Yes, but it's not on Russia's level. When parents who can afford it are already limiting themselves to one or two kids, volume matters, and they only have about 150M citizens.

USA is also light-years ahead in tech promulgation throughout industry, making our soldiers more efficient/deadly short of a nuke scenario.

That's what I'm saying. Russia is doubling down on the problem by having another significant event that will limit the amount of kids being made.
 
TBF, the Russians offing themselves is not the worst news for the species, and I say that as a fellow Slav.

The Nothing But Trouble leader boards have three perennial ranked teams for the last 200 years. The Krauts filtered theirs out by losing WW2. After the Russians do theirs, only one more biggie to go.

Oh, and to top it all off, Putin and the other Autocracy, Orthodoxy, and Nationality fasc are in the middle of a Dumpy anti-immigrant pogrom. Just when they need younger, more industrious people they are limiting themselves to the same sodden religiously- and racially-approved multi-generational perpetual losers who have been a drain on public services while getting no education or self-improvement.

I am not sure this is true. I can only find the same paragraph, repeated verbatim on a bunch of sites of ahem questionable vetting quality.

There was a story yesterday that Russian authorities are considering replacing the command staff of the 31st Air Defense Division, which is part of the 4th Air and Air Defense Army of Russia’s Southern Military District. The unit is responsible for protecting airspace over the Crimean Peninsula. However:

1. There has been no action
2. None of the staffers are named Leonov
3. That photo seems to have been floating around the internet for a while

So I think this may be somebody being funny and then a bunch of aggregators grabbing it for the eyeballs.
