RPI vs Union-Mayor's Cup 1/24/15

Re: RPI vs Union-Mayor's Cup 1/24/15

So, here's my take on the game, from my vantage point in the upper deck, right on the goal line that Union defended twice. Even though RPI scored three goals, they were very lucky that they were able to get them. All night long RPI played on their heels, it's not anything that Union did, RPI just wasn't there tonight, all game. Even though it was 3-1, the way that RPI (wasn't) clearing pucks and (weren't) winning faceoffs, it was bound to happen. The refs had a bad game, on both sides. The first too many men on the ice call on RPI occurred because Melanson was being blocked by a Union player from getting off the ice. In fact, my section, (the majority of which were Union fans) all groaned when the penalty was called because everyone thought Union was going to the box. The subsequent Union penalty was an obvious make up call, and then Laliberte's hold was terrible. Why would Laliberte hold the Union defender when Laliberte was playing the puck? I don't know what replay the refs were watching, but on both goals that were reviewed they shouldn't have been allowed. The replay on the big screen in the arena showed Liechtenwald's stick above his shoulder batting the puck in. The second one I don't know how they could determine that the entire puck was over the line. Yes, Kasdorf's momentum took him backwards, but the puck never fell out of his glove, and his glove never went over the line all the way, so I don't know how the refs could determine where the puck was in his glove. However, it didn't matter at that point. What Wood did at the end was terrible and should earn him a coach's suspension for a couple of games, but for a team captain of a national championship team (Vasaturo) to take off his glove and flip the bird to some RPI fans over by the Union bench should warrant a few games from the league, but I doubt it will. Bottom line, thankfully no one got hurt (on either team) Union can have their little nonconference win, RPI will take the four league points from earlier in the season.

You are the most biased fool on here. As a RPI fan, I am embarrassed to read your garbage. Both instant replays were the right call, easily! The first one, the stick was well below the crossbar and the second one, Kasdorf's glove was a foot behind the goal line. RPI got completely outplayed the whole game. Even when they had the lead. Union was faster and their top line was no match for RPI. Sorry to post facts but your whiny b1tch posts, especially regarding Union, are getting tiring.

No one says you have to read them. And besides, if you actually read my first sentence, I said that it was from my vantage point where I was. That doesn't say that it was the right vantage point, it was from mine, and I'm just posting what I saw. And I did actually see Vasaturo take off his glove and flip the bird, so I'm just reporting what I see. If I was such a "biased fool," I wouldn't have said that Union played a good game and deserved to win (which they did) Sorry that I don't own a bar in Schenectady, but I do know alot of Union fans too, and most of them are great people. However, just because you know alot of Union fans who aren't chest thumping, doesn't mean it's not happening. No where was my post whining or *****ing, just saying that the refs had a poor game for both teams. Is it not ok to question calls anymore? Got it. I'll guess I'll stop. Do me a favor, next time I'm on the air, don't listen, you might think I'm whining and *****ing.

I guess your vantage point didn't allow you to see the instant replay board, where they showed both goals, several times. As far as the rest of your post, YAWN!!!

According to the RPI announcers, they did not show the overhead view on the second replay on the screen. How can you be certain without seeing the overhead angle about that particular call?

Because his skates were on the goal line and his glove arm was way behind him with the puck in the glove. That was the behind the net view. Refs do not overturn calls without having solid replay evidence. RPI didn't even argue the call.

Re: RPI vs Union-Mayor's Cup 1/24/15

Yes it was a non-conference game but there is no way that was a "little" win for Union or a "little" loss for us.

It was reported during the game that the team that lost this game last season went on to win the national championship.
Now I am not saying that RPI is going to go on and win anything, but what I am saying, is that this game means nothing.
Big waste of time, especially at this time of year.
If we want/need more ooc games, bring back the Christmas tournament.

I received a message earlier today from Jericho stating that he will not be posting on USCHO in the future except on score threads due to having received threat of physical violence. He asked me to post this.
