PUCKMAN RULES!!!
Re: RPI vs AIC 10/24/09
Just got in from the game, and this is what I saw.
This team plays a game that the teams of the recent past would never recognize.
They skate, they make passes to each other, and they set up some great scoring opportunities. We should have scored 8 goals tonight.
I don't know if we will be able to do that against the ECAC, but if we can, we the fans will be very happy.
This was a very enjoyable game to watch, although somewhat frustrating with the missed chances.
D'Amigo's winning goal was a beauty. He was allowed to skate in front all alone, but he was in too close. he still roofed a back hand shot.
The rookie line that started the game was the fastest line I have seen playing for RPI.
The rookie goaltender played very well. I did not have a good angle on either goal, but the shots were from 20 feet away, I don't think they should have been so open in that position.
Helfrich looked like he was hurt bad. It looked like his skate got caught in a rut in the ice and he just bent back over his leg. Not pretty at all.
I had a lot of fun at the game and would be happy to watch many more like it.
One last thing, some people are questioning the last call by the referees.
This was not a bad call, If Malchuk was at the boards, no penalty would have been called. But he was a couple of feet away and the AIC player slammed into him. This was a dangerous play and the correct call was made. And I promise, I will not defend the ECAC referees anymore.
