RPI @ Vermont, Thursday, 12/30/21

Very nervous start for this game. We seemed to still be trying to get our legs going as we were beaten to most pucks and UVM scored first. As the period moved along we seemed to get moving better and created 2 good chances for scores. End of the first RPI 2 UVM 1. If there is fault to be found, we still seem to throw pucks to areas instead of finding someone to pass to. Teams seem to fore check us knowing we will retreat behind the net and leave some opportunities for tussles along the boards leading to shots against. We had the only 2 icing calls of the period that i saw and no penalites called (so very few face offs). Nice free flowing period and hopefully this is the type of game it continues to be

It was, but now Doc joined us

Been but on and off doing some medical work. Doing far less now than in previous years but still staying active. Glad with all the restrictions and insane rules that we no longer run the office. Would be nearly impossible to practice. Most of my friends have retired now (or died) and those still practicing have limited their hours considerably. There is simply no way for us to do this virtually as much of what i do is surgical. Besides, diagnostically, missing a cancer diagnosis - especially a melanoma- because you saw and advised a patient virtually, is the perfect storm for most malpractice attorneys.

End of two, and RPI leads 3-1.
Not a lot of flow to the second period, but the Engineers played well.
Watson finally had to make a tough save at the very end of the period.

Vermont proves early in the period that we are not the only team to give up a sort of bad goal. Much slower period with lots of whistles. Still no penalties. Brackett shows he can really be a pest out there and is very fast when given a little room. Watson makes one very tough save when called upon. End of two periods RPI 3 UVM 1.

Still a bit of hesitancy deep in our own zone. We need to make quick decisions and move the puck out before the fore check hems us in. But as EHF has said, we are playing well and have earned the 2 goal lead. Now we have to see how well we play a third period with a lead.

Should have posted this yesterday but the odds had this game as RPI a 1/2 goal favorite with the most likely score being 2-1. On the Alaska trip they had all 4 games as even with the most likely scores being 2-2. They do not seem to think we are much of an offensive team and rarely do they quote us as being able to score 3.
