RPI @ Unon 3-9-12 game one

Re: 1-0 rpi

Re: 1-0 rpi

Time for a pep talk. We need to settle down and remember what we did last weekend. Those things will still work, we just need a little more energy and to be a little stronger against this team.

I disagree. Per my post below, I think RPI has to adjust their game as compared to what they did to Clarkson. Dump and chase and winning at the boards isn't paying off like it did with Clarkson. They have made some good passing plays in the zone, though. Rogic had a huge opportunity in the slot that he missed, and there were some plays that just came up a half second short from a big scoring chance.

The risk is that the players will sense that whatever they're doing isn't working abandon the game plan and run around doing their own things. If that happens, things will fall apart completely. I think they're handling the game alright so far, so whatever SA says it has to keep the players on the same page.

I meant the strong forecheck-we seemed to spend a lot of time in Clarkson's zone. It would be good if we could do that again here. Although I agree with you, Clarkson and Union are two completely different teams.

I agree completely with your second paragraph-we're strongest as a team. We need to stick together.

Re: 1-0 rpi

Union is a totally different kind of match up for us than Clarkson was-perhaps different from all the other ECAC teams. We will have to make a lot of adjustments between periods to stay with them. Coming out of that first period tied would have been huge-the second Union goal was just a back breaker.

Yeah, if RPI can get to a tie score and weather it for a while, Union will probably start questioning what they're doing and that could help break them up, get them to play less naturally. This PP is big. If Union goes up 3-1 early in the 2nd, they're going to play loose as if they can do anything.

Oh you have to convert that breakaway. There isn't room to miss those opportunities.
