RPI & Union @ Clarkson & St. Lawrence (11/13, 11/14)

Re: RPI & Union @ Clarkson & St. Lawrence (11/13, 11/14)

You don't like Clarkson?

That can't be right. I just saw a bunch of morons from Colorado, Boston, and Michigan explaining how Clarkson and St. Lawrence wasn't a real rivalry.

I knew that I shouldn't have brought it up. :) I guess that I now have to explain. Several years ago, might even have been close to ten, a poster on USCHO decided that there should be a Belt that was transferred between teams when one beat another, similar to wrestling Belts. A few years ago, several of us decided that we could trace the Belt back in time. Eventually we got to the first game back in 1896. All of that is in this thread http://board.uscho.com/showthread.php?t=43167.

The ECAC Belt works similarly, but just for ECAC teams.

Goodness gracious Ralph !! You are like the Godfather on the RPI threads and I cant believe all of the information that you receive and distribute and maintain, but tracking a "belt" all the way back to 1896 ?? Yikes !! ...and I thought that I was a hockey fanatic. You ARE the MAN !!

I did relatively little of the research, but what I did was fun. Most of it was due to Sean Pickett (BU) who has a large collection of media guides and other information. We were a bit lucky that the Belt did not wander off to a D-III school or even worse a school that gave up hockey prior to the formation of the ECAC and WCHA.

The Red & White Band is no longer being officially tracked, however BU has it.

23.5 hours 'til puck drop!!

...wow, you'd think RPI and Union were playing Harvard and Dartmouth this weekend with the lack of posts

Re: RPI & Union @ Clarkson & St. Lawrence (11/13, 11/14)

Home teams won all but one game last weekend. SLU took it to P'ton for the only league road winner. Clarkson outshot Q'pac and by most accounts missed a few good chances in the loss. They'll be ready.

RPI will need to wipe the slate and forget about last weekend. Take it one shift at a time and get the win Friday.

30 points will get you a top 4 and a week off in March. 4 down, 26 to go for RPI. LET'S GO RED!

No love for the Capital District in Sullivan's predictions... Maybe we'll continue to defy expectations.

We wouldn't get love from the media even if we were playing in the National Championship game. We don't need them, though. Let's just play hard, be a tough team to beat, and let the media eat their words.

The longer people sleep on this team the happier I become.

Sleep, *****es, sleep.

Wicked-Unless the ECAC is a runaway(and I dont expect that at all-this will be a nail biter for the entire league season), it may be possible to be top 4 with only as few as 26 points. In any case after our dismal performances in league play the past 3 years I think I would settle for anything over half the games won-that would put us at somewhere over 22. Next year however, I would expect even more. I retain the right to upward adjust these estimates depending on how we look this weekend though.;)

I think Doc is on the bandwagon. This is one of the least pessimistic predictions he's written in a while.

As far as Mr. Sullivan's predictions go, I would have expected at least a tie for one of the games. That's OK. We'll get our revenge when we take it to BU in a few weeks.
