Re: RPI @ UNH, Tuesday, 10/25/14

I think skating Luke up front could be a stroke of genius. or insanity. or both. In any case it should make for some fun in front of the net. Not sure i want to be the defenseman who has to move him out of the way:eek:. I do wonder why, if Miller is playing, he and Melanson have been split up. Only Nanne would be missing from that line. But it might be interesting to see the line mix ups for at least one OOC game.

Not the first time Luke's been in the front, as during the U-18 game last year, they did try him in front of the net during the PP. Something tells me this is a mind-game and it'll really be a seven-D play.

Although one thing I do remember from the Bentley game I witnessed in person: He and Travis Fulton were the only ones that seemed to be trying to generate some offence. This move actually doesn't surprise me much.

Sometimes using a big D man up front can help as an element of surprise. Coach Fridgen moved Francois Senez up to play forward in a home game against SLU many years ago. For whatever reason, RPI had a huge first period and piled up a big lead-Senez seemed to disrupt the SLU defense a great deal in front of the net especially on the power play. Coach Marsh made adjustments between periods(as he always did as well as any coach in the league). And the advantage of surprise negated. SLU came back to challenge and take control of the play effectively. But the damage was done, RPI won 6-4. I am hopeful we can have a similar effect tonight.

Good question. Is anyone watching the UNH video?
i would have watched if I could stay here for the gam. But we are forced to leave shortly. I believe the video is $9.95 and the last time I watched their feed it was pretty good.
