RPI @ SCSU (Thursday 12/27 & Friday 12/28)

Re: RPI @ SCSU (Thursday 12/27 & Friday 12/28)

Seems odd that the SC Times has the RPI Lines & rpiathletics doesn't as of yet...or are they just printing what was said in Post #147. 3 weeks & Zach still isn't healed? Don't like the sound of that...if it is correct.
Rpiathletics not having it up is not unusual, but I agree that it is odd that a SC newspaper would have it. It would not surprise me if they read it here or on the SCSU board.

I, too, am a bit concerned about Zach's being out of the line up so long. Perhaps he is being held out as a precaution until fully 100% for league games?

Gamecast has Lee-Laliberte-Haggerty Leonard-Bailen
Higgs- McGowan-Neal Leboeuf-Bradley
Zalewski-Miller-Bubela Curardi-Dolan
Tinordi--Rogic-O'Grady

I would trust the gamecast.

Ahhh... see I don't bother to learn or even look at the names of players from inferior teams like RPI.

Our team thought of putting together lines in order to spell stuff... but they decided to instead work on scoring goals.

Huskies Sweep
Gawd it sucks when inferior eastern teams knock off over rated top 20 western teams.

Re: RPI @ SCSU (Thursday 12/27 & Friday 12/28)

Back from the game, and here are my thoughts:

First period: Sloppy. We kept missing assignments, the penalty was one you kind of have to take.
Second period: Much better with taking advantage of opportunities. With that second goal, it's evident Bubela is a European, because no North American would, in their right minds, be able to put moves like that on olympic ice. I was really hoping he'd put in a third and get the natural hat trick. Leonard should really take the one timer more, or the team should be looking to get him open, because he's got it. I did not see Kasdorf's injury despite it being right in front of me, I guess he banged his arm and/or shoulder on the ice.
Third period: Thank goodness Diebold made that first save. I don't know what the hell we did on that power play; thank goodness it's biased WCHA refs so we don't have to decline penalties. BTW, on that boarding call, it was a blatant embellishment that should have been called with it. The guy went down a full second after the hit. It was too much reminders of the GLI. Hopefully we can actually win the next one, though.

If anything, we've just seriously raised the ECAC stock. SCSU has been kicking *** in the WCHA, we beat SCSU, and the rest of the ECAC has been kicking our ***. You're welcome, other ECAC teams.

OK, enough of this, time to get some drinks.

Re: RPI @ SCSU (Thursday 12/27 & Friday 12/28)

Whew. This is not a good loss for SCSU or the WCHA. I sure hope this isn't any sort of omen for UNO/Quinnipiac Saturday, a series that, from a pairwise standpoint, the WCHA as whole could really use a sweep by UNO.

Only three penalties?

I thought SCSU would sweep this series handily. Somebody forgot to tell that to Rensselaer.

On 2nd thought, maybe somebody did.

Re: RPI @ SCSU (Thursday 12/27 & Friday 12/28)

I'm not sure what you were looking at but the RPI player left his feet and jumped on his back. It was one of the strangest plays I've ever seen. I thought he was going to get checking from behind not boarding.

I don't think I've ever seen Gravel embellish. I think he was trying to get the player off of him.

I just watched it again, #19 Zalewski jumped and crosschecked him right in the number #7 Gravel (back) then landed on him driving his head into the boards. Then he thought he shouldn't get a penalty because he had both arms wrapped around him. Zalewski also gave Dowd a big cheapshot when the puck was in the opposite corner dropping him like a rock just before the third goal. Labouef wrapped Hanowski with both arms and ran him into the glass and there was no call in the first. RPI was a lot more physical than we are used to.

The play was right in front of me. It was clearly a delayed dive.
