Re: RPI Recruiting II: Knowlton's Rangers (enlistments open)

After watching tonight's game, I certainly hope some of these recruits are ready to step up to the position of enforcer. We'll need some protection for D'Amigo and possibly Laliberte.

BTW, babo, how is your son at playing the game some of us like to call "squish the midget"? :D

Just got on board...(hahaha, did I make a funny?:) ) he likes to...but he invariabley receives 'physics' penalties as a result...

Re: RPI Recruiting II: Knowlton's Rangers (enlistments open)

Saw Koudys and his dad at the rink tonight -- good size. He's gonna fill out nicely. :D

There was a 2nd kid there with his mother. He looked kind of young. Kevin Broad came out and invited both kids into the locker room before tonight's game. The 2nd kid had a black coat on with black embroidery - hard to read -- but I did make out "Bull Dogs". His mom had some sort of a team jacket on with #2 on one side of the chest. He is not #2 from the Boston Bull dogs site. I'm not having any luck finding the kid on any team websites. Too tired to keep digging tonight. Maybe RedHead or someone else can shed some light on him.

I have missed so much the past few days I feel like I am lost...but when I googled Koudys' name, a Dan came up...is that an older brother (don't face palm me if this was already addressed RC & RB :o )

Dan is his second cousin. Their grandfathers are (were?) brothers. Dan's father happens to be Randy Koudys who was a forward for RPI who graduated in 1984, the year before the national championship.

I can't keep this all straight:confused:

It is probably coming close to being stalkerish:p

You have no idea. :p I kept seeing Koudys all over the place on Saturday. He was at the alumni hockey game with (presumably) his father, then later in the day getting a tour of the facilities at ECAV and catching a women's basketball game.

Re: RPI Recruiting II: Knowlton's Rangers (enlistments open)

Ive followed this thread and the "Give me JL or give me death" thread for some time now. On thursday while traveling for work I was in northern NY. I was able to catch the Cornwall Colts vs Brockville Braves game in Cornwall on Thursday evening. This game was so entertaining that I extended my trip up north to catch the rematch in Brockville on Friday evening. Another great game, both going to shootouts and both won by Brockville 4-3. These boys COMPETED and BATTLED. JL was shadowed but was still a standout. The Spink twins are hockey smart beyond their years. Ming scored a nice goal friday on a great play by Ouillette but seems alittle sluggish at times but have to remember he is only a 1993DOB. I beleive he was injured in saturdays game. LeBoeuf shows promise but both teams have several D men that play a better defensive game than he.
Between peroids in Brockville I had a conversation with a Colts fan. I asked if he had heard anything about JL's future. The guy said he had heard from a player that he might be looking into playing at Ottawa U with some of his buds, namely Ouilette. Also said he heard maybe Sarnia (OHL) for a year then Ottawa U. Never one word about RPI.
Not trying to start anything but thought it might be of interest to serious RPI people.

Thanks, but I'll file this under "hearsay rumor." Journalists did the same thing with Pirri and D'Amigo last year - they were totally not coming to RPI if you asked them.

Which Brockville players did you like?

We do know from a recent Troy Record article http://www.troyrecord.com/articles/2010/01/20/sports/doc4b57e02ea273c437540733.txt that what JL will do is at least up in the air. That is, although he is considering other options, he may still play for RPI.

Thanks for the reviews of the other players.

Re: RPI Recruiting II: Knowlton's Rangers (enlistments open)

The Braves are a very deep team they have size, skill and speed. I liked alot of their players and the obvious ones have committed already but I'll take a shot at a deeper analysis: Shane Stockton(Holy Cross) a big body, protects the puck well and deadly on the PP not so much 5x5. Thompson(committed somewhere) can really wheel, Arnold don't think he is committed but the more I watched him the more I liked him has real good speed scored in both games I think, Dumond big, strong, skates well but took a bad penalty on a hit from behind that left Cornwall's dman cut, Dawson on d is not flashy but is very solid, Wilson showed signs of why he has a scolly, Gingras has alot of hype but to be honest I thought didn't play that well, Roy has been hyped as well, but aside from a nice rush in thursdays game can't remember him doing much. Livingston on d competes hard, likes it ruff but took penalties in both games in OT both against Cornwall's #11 who was involved physically both nights.
If these two teams happen to meet in the playoffs I for one will make the trip up to watch. Don't know what the rest of this league looks like but if they have the talent these two have I'd say some D1 schools are missing out on some talent.

Re: RPI Recruiting II: Knowlton's Rangers (enlistments open)

Thanks hockeylover.

Thompson to Mass-Lowell next year with Cornwall's goalie Carr.

Re: RPI Recruiting II: Knowlton's Rangers (enlistments open)

Thanks for the update on Thompson. Since you memtioned Carr for Cornwall I dont remember seeing his name. He is on the roster as a goalie #28 but thursday's game #28 in net was Cretian. On friday Cornwall only had one goalie dressed(Landa) don't know what happened to Cretian or Carr. Seemed odd that an organization like the Colts would only dress one netminder.

Carr is injured. Cretien is an affiliate player who was brought up due to Carr's injury and may have had to go back there for a game.

Re: RPI Recruiting II: Knowlton's Rangers (enlistments open)

For those who didn't see the game in person or on video - Coach Vines was not behind the bench this weekend...no doubt he was out beating the bushes for RPI ! :p
