RPI Recruit Thread 2021-22

I agree. Also considering how many players we have recently gotten from Brooks, directly or indirectly, we probably have a good relationship with the staff. Although I can't post neutral Zone's reviews, his most recent evaluation from 10/28/20 may be the best one for an RPI recruit since I started subscribing for the 2018-19 season. Among others, it used words like elite, lightning, smooth, and deadly. the only negative was his size.

He had a 3-2-2-4-0 line in the 3 out of 4 exhibition games which he was dressed for. The next game counts.

Certainly music to our ears RB ! I'm ok with his size...we've got a lot of big kids and there have been plenty of examples of smaller kids who have great ECAC careers! Of course, we can hope he fills out a bit of the next year or so !

I have to totally agree with you Wicked. I am a firm believer in recruiting the biggest boys (especially on defense) but if we can find a St. Louis or a Gionta, it would just be absolutely fine with me. Size can make a difference but talent is of course so important. I would add that size just becomes increasingly more important as one goes up in levels of play. You do not see too many 160 pound fellows in the NHL.

(‘03) Hunter Wallace (F) to RPI for 2023

Wallace is an undersized forward but has put up huge offensive totals at every level. Last season he played U18 hockey for the Southwest Cougars in Manitoba, and he finished with 11 goals and 4 assists in just eight games. In 2019-20 he appeared in 48 games for the Cougars and scored 36 goals with 33 assists. The 5-foot-7 forward will take a step up this season and play in the AJHL with the Brooks Bandits.

NZ Scouts: “Hunter is an extremely talented forward with elite skating abilities. His feet are lightning-quick, and he can change his direction on a dime. His edges are smooth, and he does well to change up his shooting angles in a hurry to get open looks on net. The ’03 is deadly off the rush and he can make things happen on any given shift. His vision and hockey sense are superb, and he anticipates the play well.”
