RPI Recruit Thread 2020-21

Interesting that they have him as class of '22. Since prep players generally, but not always. play a post-grad year in juniors I'd bet on him arriving in '23. Then again, we took Nykanen right away so you never know.

I put him as '22 because Heisenberg did. I may change it when we learn more. Those years are becoming more meaningless every year. I agree that '23 seems more likely.

And you are correct about Nykanen.

BTW, Neutral Zone thinks he is for '21 which is very unlikely.

And Neutral Zone raised Hotson to 3.75 where he had been in 2018. It will be updated the next time the list is posted,

The Janesville Jets lost to the USNTDP 17U team 9-3. Max Itagaki was in the lineup and didn’t score a goal, but no further details.

I missed the last three games that Sutter Muzzatti played in. He had no points in total and one roughing penalty. In one of the games he had 3 SOGs.

His line is now 8-1-1-2-2.

The dates on which some of the women are listed as committing on may be considerably after the actual dates.
I am assuming that Neutral Zone regards their Star ratings as public because they often tweet them with committals.

Salmon Arm, B.C. — The Salmon Arm Silverbacks are excited to announce that 17-year-old forward Mathieu Bourgault has committed to play NCAA Div. I hockey at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI).

The St-Bruno-de-Montarville, Que. native joined the Silverbacks this season after one year at Lake Forest Academy, where he led the program in scoring in 2019-20 with 50 points — 23 goals and 27 assists — in just 22 games.

“I felt like RPI was the place that would help fulfill my dream of becoming a pro hockey player,” Bourgault said. “They have an amazing coaching staff and I really love their culture. They want to win and I want to win, so I think it was a really great fit.”

Last season, Bourgault’s 50 points made him a top-5 scorer among U-17 players in all of United States high school prep hockey.

“The Salmon Arm Silverbacks would like to congratulate Mat on his commitment to RPI, ” Silverbacks head coach Tyler Shattock said. “Mat is a high-ceiling, very talented guy. He’s got size, skill — I think he’s tailor-made to go to the college game. He’s a kid that always wants to learn and I think he’ll be a real nice piece for RPI.”

Earlier this season, Backs forward Danny Ciccarello also committed to RPI, while forward Zach Dubinsky joined the Silverbacks from RPI with their season on hold.

The RPI Engineers compete in the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Hockey League, composed of 12 total teams.

Hear from Mathieu about the commitment in the video below:

FWIW, he doesn't sound like he is from Quebec and has a French name.

The Salmon Arm coach needs to make a Bourgault - Dubinsky - Ciccarello line and let the RPI boys go to work! ;-)

Maybe that's a future line for the cherry and white!

Interesting that he doesn't have a french accent -- as he is from the thick of it there in the Longueuil area. I wonder if he grew up elsewhere in Canada or the US.

Either that or he went to the trouble of acquiring a standard US accent. He did go to an American Prep school (Lake Forest Academy) last year, but prior to that he played for Quebec teams with French names. FWIW, the BCHL lists him as living in Salmon Arm, but I suspect that is wrong. The article which I linked, as you obviously noticed, mentions St-Bruno-de-Montarville as do most other sites.
