RPI Recruit Thread 2020-21

According to tweets, the Janesville Jets lost to the USNTDP 17U team 5-4 in a non-league game. Max Itagaki was not in the lineup.

Coach Smith has indicated that there are a lot of variables that will impact when each of our recruits will come. These include transfers both in and out of our program, players granted an extra year and either using it or not, etc. He doesn't know exactly what will happen in each case. We do know, of course, that Watson must come next year, if he comes at all, because he was born in 2000. I thus assume that at least one of our senior goalies likely won't be back next year. If neither comes back, then we will need another goalie. Hopefully, one will return, for otherwise we won't have a goalie with any collegiate experience.

Smith and his staff though have a lot of time since they don't have to do any game coaching and at the moment can't scout in person.

I'd rather them try to get a grad transfer at goalie rather than keep one of the seniors. Matt Galajda from Cornell is on the market, and I'm sure other capable goaltenders will be after the season as well. It might be a gamble to wait until then, but based on recent years, I think there will be goaltenders with experience as a #1 available.
 
On Friday, the Maryland Black Bears lost to the Johnstown Tomahawks 3-2 in overtime. Reid Leibold had no points or penalties. http://nahl.com/game-center/#/game-summary/29552/url] Leibold's line is now 14-5-5-10-10.
