Re: RPI Recruit Thread 2018-19

Looking at the complete recruit list it appears we have 6 ladies coming from Canada so far. The men's list has only 3. It was not too long ago that i remember almost yearly that the men's list was about 50% Canadian. Wonder if this is going to be the trend?

I think that's been a gradual trend for the last 20+ years. Prior to that the overwhelming majority of our recruits were Canadian. There were a number of years in which a majority of our class came from the province of Ontario, often within a 50 mile or so radius of Toronto.

Agreed. A matter of fact around 1970 there were almost no players from the US. E.g. in 70-71, Jim Rancourt played two games. That was it.

However the two most recent men's recruits are Canadian, Fawkes and McIsaac. :)

Re: RPI Recruit Thread 2018-19

Last month the NCAA Division I council introduced two recruiting proposals into the legislative process in hopes of slowing down recruiting not only in hockey, but all sports. Should the proposals pass in April, the days of verbal commitments by high school sophomores, freshmen and even eighth-graders will be a thing of the past.

The creators behind these proposals also believe the changes will reduce the number of decommitments and maybe even bring some civility back to a recruiting environment that has become hostile in recent years as the validity of verbal commitments is questioned........ http://www.duluthnewstribune.com/sp...aa-proposal-aims-slow-down-recruiting-process

Re: RPI Recruit Thread 2018-19

Hopefully it will pass.

I'm actually hoping it won't, at least not without some modifications. Major Junior doesn't have these sorts of restrictions. And once a kid goes there, they're gone. They really need to keep it open for at least sophomores. I'll give you 8th grade is too young, and it's been too long for me to remember if I was receiving college catalogues in my freshman year of HS. And who says we need to be restricted to grade level? What about adding a provision for birth date, I'd say 15 years 6 months because you can sign at the juniors level when you're 16?
