It still wouldn't surprise me if when the dust settles he agrees to defer. Don't get me wrong, I feel that true freshmen should be the rule rather than the exception.

Suddenly it looks like the future of RPI hockey might be a bit taller and heavier. With 7 players listed over 6' and 4 over 190 pounds, the recruit list is no longer looking like the Mighty Ducks. With some time to fill out i suspect we might see more than a few around the 200 pound area when they arrive in Troy. I have no way to judge talent level of any of these boys but I can at least read measurements and of course with some exceptions, size does seem to matter especially on defense at the NCAA level and above.

I wouldn't be too worried about weight prior to arrival, as they'll have time enough to bulk up while they're at the 'tute. After all, that's another good reason players should choose college over Major Junior.

Took them a while to tweet this. They also raised him from 3.50 to 3.75. (He received a fairly good review, which I can't quote, recently.)

Hope we have some really good restaurants in Troy for these boys to put away the pasta. I know Jenny and I used to love Verdile's in North Troy before games. Food was great, portions were huge, prices were reasonable, and of course, the bar was well stocked.
I was worried about the size of our recruits previously but seeing how many have more size now, i feel much better. I do not have much concern that they will put on some muscle and weight. Have always felt that hockey is governed by Newtonian Physics even more than many other sports.

On Friday, the Kemptville 73's defeated the Nepean Raiders 6-2. John Beaton had 2 goals (1 PPG) and 3 assists. https://www.thecchl.ca/stats/game-summary/4310

Beaton's line is now 33-6-29-35-8.

3-6-8 in his last 3 games.
Considering Eric Fawkes stats so far this evening, the two have done more offensively than we often get from over a dozen recruits in a day. :)


Edit: JB was named the #2 Star. I wonder what Williams did to get #1, or if it was just a mistake. I will keep checking.

On Friday, the Winkler Flyers defeated the OCN Blizzard 6-5 in overtime. Eric Fawkes had 2 goals (1 PPG), an assist, and a roughing after whistle penalty. He also served a too-many-men penalty. https://www.mjhlhockey.ca/stats/game-summary/3442

Fawkes's line is now 34-5-10-15-26.


EF was named the #2 Star according to OCN's broadcast. I will check in the morning if that was official and if there are any changes.

The dates on which some of the women are listed as committing on may be considerably after the actual dates.
I am assuming that Neutral Zone regards their Star ratings as public because they tweet them with committals.

EF was named the #2 Star according to OCN's broadcast. I will check in the morning if that was official and if there are any changes.

If he's serving the you can't count penalty and still getting a Juniors-level Gordie Howe Hat Trick (yes you can fight but I know some leagues it's a game misconduct at the least), either it's the offensive prowess we're looking for, or he may end up going the way of Troy York. College has become about being a well-rounded two-way player, and although there are some people that just aren't good with the PK, I wonder if there's something about the defensive abilities we don't know.

Just out of curiosity, do the entire stats show a running +/-? I probably asked this before...

The MJHL doesn't show running +/-, but the software allows it since the USHL, as an example, does. If you go to League Leaders, under "Choose Quick View" you can pick +/-, but it does not do anything, even if you only look at Winkler skaters. It also does not appear on the individual player page.

I was listening to that game at that time. He had just been on the ice, so they probably figured that he was not able to kill the penalty. Also, he is the second youngest player on the team so he hasn't taken on all responsibilities yet.


Edit: One more thing, if he is truly great, we will lose him. :(
