Re: RPI Recruit Thread 2015-16 Part II

So do I and i agree completely. i can't help but think there has to be some eastern European boys who are top notch hockey prospects but who also think of engineering as a career. We've had a Russian but I think we have a lot to offer from an education standpoint to a young 6'2" 215 pound Czech who wants to have Electrical Engineering as a back up just in case the NHL does not come calling.

Edit: it does seem to me that over the years we almost always had a higher percentage of Canadian boys than we do now. i am sure there are a plethora of reasons why, but I do find it interesting.
I think that the main reason is that there are more Americans now playing hockey percentagewise than in the past, and the Americans are not as tied to the CHL as Canadians are. I am sure that overall, there is a higher percentage of Americans than there used to be in the NCAA -- it isn't limited to RPI.

I agree that Eastern Europe could be a good source, but it would take a lot of work.

I would suppose it takes a bit of developing connections. How many Finnish players have made the trip to Potsdam? Not exactly a town they want to come to for a vacation.

When it reaches a critical mass, they recruit each other. Perhaps we can do that now with Sweden with two on the roster and one in the pipeline. (Also a woman who has played on a men's team there.)

No doubt players recruit each other. It's crossed my mind for the two Miamians to convince a third to join our program.

It's crossed turk's mind and my mind too, assuming that you mean a player on the USNDTP. I will leave it at that.

I will post Wenatchee's summary in the AM. Perry started but removed after giving up 2 goals on 9 shots in 8:19. :(

FWIW, if it’s the same player Ralph & I have been following for over a year now, I asked AR about him & he said he didn’t know him.

FWIW, if it’s the same player Ralph & I have been following for over a year now, I asked AR about him & he said he didn’t know him.

I didn't know if that was releasable info, so I didn't post it was my earlier response. I guess that it is clear that Randy Hernandez is the only one who fits the description, so I can mention the name. I would hope that we are looking it him although I have no idea if he is interested in us or if he is academically eligible. According to articles he started hockey at a late age and took a while to fit in with the NTDP, but he would be a great catch. I am surprised that he has not made a decision yet.

Yes, that is the player I was referencing. I've been following since he joined NTDP. Would be a good player, but hope he makes the best decision for himself. That should be enough on the topic of an uncommitted player.

Re: RPI Recruit Thread 2015-16 Part II

On Friday, the Cedar Rapids RoughRiders defeated the Dubuque Fighting Saints 4-3. Jacob Hayhurst had a goal (PPG, GWG) and an assist. http://stats.ushl.com/ushl/ushl/en/stats/game-summary.php?game_id=526#

Hayhurst's line is now 22-3-9-12-22.

Road victory over #1 team. No star for JH :( but two stars went to the CRRR and they went to a 2-goal scorer and the goalie.
