New recruit! '95, so this fall?!

This makes things confusing??

Edit: Would lead me to believe Cho is definitely pushed to 2017. Makes one wonder if Bell is leaving or moving to forward. Would seem odd to go with 15F/9D.

TJ was on the recent NAHL Top Prospects Team. I like his size given here........<blockquote class="twitter-tweet" data-lang="en"><p lang="en" dir="ltr">BREAKING NEWS: <a href="https://twitter.com/hashtag/NAHL?src=hash">#NAHL</a> announces 2016 Top Prospects CENTRAL team roster.<a href="https://t.co/BNgcT38JB4">https://t.co/BNgcT38JB4</a> <a href="https://t.co/lX4lWTjT2U">pic.twitter.com/lX4lWTjT2U</a></p>— NAHL (@NAHLHockey) <a href="https://twitter.com/NAHLHockey/status/691651736327434240">January 25, 2016</a></blockquote> <script async src="//platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script>

from late 2014

Happy Ground Round Spotlight week! This week, the spotlight is over defenseman, #2, TJ Samec! 19 year old TJ is the only child of Tim and Delinda Samec from Saint Paul, MN. In TJ’s junior career, he has played for the Minnesota Magicians in the NAHL, the Winkler Flyers of the MJHL, and also a brief stint with the Blizzard in 2013. So far this season, TJ has three points and 12 shots on goal in 14 games.

Although TJ has played hockey since the age of 3, there is more to him than just hockey. TJ also enjoys spending time on the golf course during the summer months. If you are looking for TJ when he is not at the rink, the best place to find him would be outside. His favorite food is chicken alfredo pasta and his favorite color is blue. When asked about his dream job, TJ stated it would have to be traveling the world as a pilot.

The Blizzard have taken on a new mission to be involved in the community this season by going to schools visits, helping out where they can, etc. TJ is very good with the school kids, and is always willing to volunteer to offer his time. He really enjoys helping out the kids at these events. TJ said his favorite community event so far was the carnival for Halloween.

On the hockey side of things, TJ’s favorite memory is definitely winning the Minnesota State High School Hockey Championships in back to back years. For this year’s Blizzard team, TJ has high hopes. For a season goal, TJ has set an appearance in the Robertson Cup Finals. One might say hockey is the center of TJ’s life. His lifelong dream would be to play Division I hockey in college while attending school. Come to the game Saturday, Nov. 8th, to get your hands on a TJ Samec Ground Round Trading Card!

When we win the NCAA championship next season, everyone watch if he stays on his feet. :)
Well, maybe the ECAC championship.
Or perhaps the Mayor's Trophy game. :D

Re: RPI Recruit Thread 2015-16 Part II

I am going to move Cho to 2017. As to Bell, you could be correct. Also it could be Moore going to forward.

While the coaches do have some history with moving an undersized Minnesota d-man to forward, I'd be surprised if Moore pulled a Brutlag. I only saw a half-dozen games in person and a several more on RPI TV, but Meirs seemed to play fairly solid defense as the season went on. At his size he's going to be challenged clearing in front or winning board battles, but that's true for all but the minority of puck-moving defensemen that combine offensive skills with significant size. Even guys like Prapavessis, who are closer to the average size, have difficulty with large forwards. The good news is if Moore moves up I think it will be a sign that our backline recruits are better than expected rather than a significant weakness on Moore's part. Do those that saw more of Moore's frosh campaign agree or disagree?

I think that Moore moving is the least likely of the three things.

Edit: there are other possibilities too, e.g. Prapavessis turning pro, but I don't expect that this summer.

I think that Moore moving is the least likely of the three things.

Edit: there are other possibilities too, e.g. Prapavessis turning pro, but I don't expect that this summer.
Huge mistake if Praps goes that way. No way is he ready.

Re: RPI Recruit Thread 2015-16 Part II

If Samec completes the 2016 incoming class then perhaps we will soon get the official recruiting announcement. These are the past dates which I got from the archives:
Recruit announcements:

05/19/15
06/12/14
07/15/13
07/19/12
07/25/11
05/24/10
05/06/09
06/17/08
04/25/07
05/15/06
06/13/05
2004 missing
2003 missing
07/18/02

I am sure that everyone remembers that soon after last year's announcement we lost a certain recruit. If SA is as superstitious as I am, it might cause a delay. :D
