RPI Recruit Thread 2013-14 (Part III)

Re: RPI Recruit Thread 2013-14 (Part III)

FYI: Just got word that Carlos Fornaris is a player that Mark Carlson expects back in Cedar Rapids next year. Usually when Mark says that, this is what happens.

Thanks for the info. Although I like to see players attend college directly out of HS, I have no doubt that Fornaris will benefit from another year in the USHL.

This does mean that even if Rodriguez is coming this fall, we have only four forward recruits and five are leaving.

I'd check to see how many we had this past year, but the person who is coding the site messed up a regular expression. I haven't done VB in a decade, and have no interest in debugging what is going on there. The point would be that if we were regularly carrying 16 forwards, that may be overkill, and perhaps one of the players will be F/D, or there's something we don't know about when it comes to one of the other players, possibly a transfer.

Re: RPI Recruit Thread 2013-14 (Part III)

Based solely on his size, his reputation as a puck mover, and his extreme plus/minus (which can be very misleading on a bad team), I wonder whether Moore will pull a Brutlag and move up front 5 on 5 while potentially giving us a little defensive experience at the point on our 5 forwards PP.

I have no idea what you are talking about. What I meant was we had 15 forwards in 13-14 (and 16 a year earlier). Even with Rodriquez we will have 14. Conceivably Moore or Bell could play forward in an emergency.

Agreed. And his father definitely played forward.

And had you posted these specifics, my inquiry would have been unnecessary. ;)

The fact that I wrote that we have at most four new recruits at forward if Fornaris isn't coming this year (Melanson, Tironese, Nanne, and Rodriguez) and are losing five (Rogic, Higgs, Tinordi, Haggarty, and Zalewski) also shows we will have one fewer than last season.

It did not say the total number of forwards, which was my point.

On Thursday, the Toronto Lake Shore Patriots defeated the Aurora Tigers 3-2. They lead their best-of-7 playoff series 1-0. Michael Prapavessis scored a PPG and had an assist. He was named the #1 Star. :) Jacob Hayhurst had no points or penalties. http://ojhlsite.stats.pointstreak.com/boxscore.html?gameid=2421438

Prapavessis' playoff line is now 14-2-11-13-2.
Total 61-7-60-67-4.
Hayhurst's playoff line is now 14-7-4-11-8.
Total 62-20-23-43-48.

Video highlights of TLP's victory yesterday http://vimeo.com/91682021. MP's (#77) goal starts at about 1:30. Prior to that he has a "no goal". After that is his assist. (He doesn't exactly stay at the point in any of these plays. :D )
