RPI Recruit Thread 2013-14 (Part III)

Re: RPI Recruit Thread 2013-14 (Part III)

Right now CR is playing a waiting game with Hayhurst. I was told by a scout that they can not talk to him until his season is over. They will know more at that time.
Thanks Scott. At least is doesn't appear to be Hayhurst who will be signing with the OHL Team. For those not following the fyc board it appears one of Cedar Rapids players taken in yesterdays Draft is on the verge of signing in the O.

That makes sense. One would think that he should keep his mind focused on the RBC, and it won't be that long until it is over. BTW, I do think it a lot odd that the USHL had its drafted before its own tourney was completed.

@THNRyanKennedy Who are strong sleepers that could make some good picks here late in the #USHLDraft?

..... Ryan Kennedy ‏@THNRyanKennedy May 6
@TexSR_Tanner1 Jacob Hayhurst (Cedar Rapids), JC Brassard (Youngstown), Miles Gendron (Green Bay). Warren Foegele would be a coup for DBQ

Re: RPI Recruit Thread 2013-14 (Part III)

RPI and Union each had four picks in the USHL draft, but all four of RPI's picks were higher than Union's top pick. I hope that is a good sign of where the talent is going, but it probably isn't that significant.

BTW, Foegele was Cho's teammate at St. Andrews.

Warren Foegele has already signed his NLI to come to UNH this fall:

One thing we found last year was that there are some circumstances where the NLI does not have to be exercised in the subsequent year, as we had a recruit or two that did not; reference Ralph's list for specifics. The exact circumstances are unknown, nor are they important, only the fact that it can be delayed. However, as per the terms of the NLI, they will be at the respective schools.

Re: RPI Recruit Thread 2013-14 (Part III)

By my calculation the teams that our known recruits play for have a total of from 13 to 18 games left. Austin and Fairbanks play a best-of-3 series implying they play 2 or 3 games. Waterloo plays a best-of-5 series resulting in 3 to 5 games. The total so far is 5 to 8 games. Vernon and TLP first each play in a 5-team round robin meaning each plays 4 games, but one is against each other for a total of 7 games. That makes it 12 to 15 games so far. The round robin will eliminate one of the five teams. Then follows standard single game semifinals and a final. One of the Vernon and TLP is guaranteed to make the semis and both could and either play each other or not in the semis. In any case, the two teams together could play from 1 to 3 games in the playdowns. That brings the total to from 13 to 18 games.

Re: RPI Recruit Thread 2013-14 (Part III)

Previously, Bell, Melanson, Moore, Nanne, and Wilson were in the RPI Directory. Now we add

Name: Charles Peter Manley
Class: First-Year Student
Curriculum: Business and Management

Do I expect us to get four new defensemen with only two graduating? I doubt it highly unless someone is leaving. Not only that but there has been speculation that Prapavessis will be here in the fall.

In the middle of the season I thought it was possible that Bokenfohr might concentrate on golf, but he made the lineup in the latter stages so that seems unlikely. He displaced Reno so perhaps Reno is leaving, but that seems unlikely since he ran for and won a student government position. It would be odd for him to leave the team and stay at RPI since he would lose his scholarship. Hampton hasn't played much, so he could be leaving.

If he comes to RPI now he will be sitting next to the band for most games so not a threat to anyone's playing time.

It would seem like that to me also, but as has been said here before, we really don't know how well he plays as many of us were quite surprised about Miller after what seemed to be lackluster stats in Omaha.
