It is fitting that the game I take off this year Carlos Fornaris goes off and nets a pair of goals. You guys are going to think I should skip more games!

Hopefully yesterday's game was not an isolated event and indicates that CF can stay in the lineup and perform at the USHL level.

Re: RPI Recruit Thread 2013-14 (Part II)

Obviously we concentrate on our recruits but Waterloo is on some run, 20-0-1. Last regulation loss was Nov.22.

I didn't notice since the team schedule page lists away team always first, not the team that you are looking at. DM is used to winning from High School. Hopefully he can bring that to Troy.

I am looking for him to just do what he has just done now for almost 6 years-play well and help a team win. At Delbarton he was not always the one to top the score sheet-but when you watched the team often enough-you could not help but watch his play and how it affects everyone out there. It just seemed like the ice became more open for his teammates. I suspect that this is what he has been able to carry up now to the USHL level. At RPI, how effective he becomes may well rest on what system we play, what our coaches instruct the boys to do, and most important how he fits into that system. He seems to flourish when the play is wide open-you notice him most when teams are shorthanded(for or against) as the ice is more open. And he is just a fast and mobile skater. Scoring? Who knows-a lot will depend on linemates. But he does seem to have that winning history-we saw a lot of Delbarton games down here in NJ and I think I only attended one loss in 3 years.

I keep vacillating as to how quickly he and ET will fit into the lineup as scoring threats. Both have the talent but IMO neither is a Brandon Pirri.

...at least no-one is harping them the way we did with Lali :(

True, but their stats are not on the level of JL's either. Then again the USHL is much better than the CJHL, and IMHO the gap between the USHL and everywhere else that we recruit is increasing yearly. (I am including the USNTDP as part of the USHL.)

Re: RPI Recruit Thread 2013-14 (Part II)

I keep vacillating as to how quickly he and ET will fit into the lineup as scoring threats. Both have the talent but IMO neither is a Brandon Pirri.

Not a comparison i can make-Pirri was just about our highest ranked recruit by most scouting. D'Amigo not all that far behind. These boys are a bit lower on the radar but I suspect have a considerable upside potential. I had indicated this years ago with big #5 when others were not very impressed. Some boys just have that certain something-whatever it is. This is not to say they will be NHL draftees or succeed at that level-but they can be serious contributors at the NCAA level. I know far more about DM than ET who i have never seen personally. This recruit class seems pretty fair-but they have some shoes to fill as we are losing some excellent role players. Higgs, tinordi and Rogic may not be our highest scorers but they work hard and I appreciate their efforts. i hope our forwards coming in can work just as hard.

Re: RPI Recruit Thread 2013-14 (Part II)

Thanks for the link. The announcer didn't even mention Fornaris' name on the first goal. At least he did for the second.

Edit: Nice camouflage uniforms. ;)

Uniforms were for Military Appreciation night. Auctioned off after the game will proceeds going to the Wounded Warrior Project.

Yes they were sweet!
