The boys who went direct to NCAA DIV I went mostly to the Ivies. Some have done very well. I too think that DM has derived some benefit from being in the USHL as at Delbarton the competition most nights was just not there.

A couple on Yale

Re: RPI Recruit Thread 2013-14 (Part II)

On Sunday, OJHL South & West defeated NOJHL in the Central Canada Cup 5-1. Michael Prapavessis had an assist. http://www.centralcanadacup.com/en/scorekeeper/summary.html?idMatch=234404

Prapavessis' line is now 5-0-4-4-0.

The top two teams play in the finals at 5:30. The OJHL S&W team finished with a 4-1 record. The LHJAAAQ (St.-Louis-Lalime) and CCHL teams are each 3-1 and if they both win their games today at 1PM and 3PM, which is the likely result, all three will tie at 4-1 with each having a victory against one of the others. I don't know what the tie breaker is in that case. If either loses then OJHL S&W is definitely in the top two. Standings http://www.centralcanadacup.com/en/scorekeeper/stats.html?year=2013&level=3432&type=T. (Not yet updated with this game.)

Re: RPI Recruit Thread 2013-14 (Part II)

Still scratching my head about Yale's success and the young players coming out of Debarton and having an influence on the teams achievements.

Don't be-the coaching at Delbarton is excellent. Some of the kids i have seen can indeed step into the NCAA quickly. Jenny and I have seen representatives from Yale and Prince virtually at every game. Sometimes joined by others but those two schools are there the most.

The CCHL team lost to OJHL N&W in a shootout, so OJHL S&W will play in the finals. They will be the home team, I am imagine because they won the game with LHJAAAQ (St.-Louis-Lalime).

Edit: Had CCHL won. OJHL (S&W) would have been the odd man out. http://www.centralcanadacup.com/en/...er_festival_of_goals_for_st-louis-lalime.html
The St-Louis-Lalime team should await the result of the game between OJHL NE and CCHL to know the identity of the other finalist. A victory for the CCHL will allow them to participate in the final.

On Sunday, OJHL South & West lost to LHJAAAQ (St.-Louis-Lalime) in the finals of the Central Canada Cup 4-2. Michael Prapavessis had no points or penalties. http://www.centralcanadacup.com/en/scorekeeper/summary.html?idMatch=234488

Prapavessis' line is now 6-0-4-4-0.

I have never seen an "Interference from a bench" penalty before. :)
I wonder if someone threw something from the bench or if someone may have held a player from the bench. 5x3 at the end pretty much nullified any chance at the end for OSW.

I agree that it was one or the other, but it sounds like the penalty was due to the bench. :)

I also agree about the penalties near the end, but they survived a similar run in the first period.

Now to wait to see if there is an All Star team selected and if MP is chosen. With four points he tied for the lead among defensemen.

Edit: the game summary http://www.centralcanadacup.com/en/...tar_team_won_the_2013_central_canada_cup.html doesn't mention an All-Star team.

Re: RPI Recruit Thread 2013-14 (Part II)

The September 2013 posts on USHR are now available without a subscription.

The following entry about Jared Wilson was before he committed to RPI and before he was traded to Vernon:
-- There’s a lot of buzz around Alberni Valley’s 6-3/190 lb. ’94 LD Jared Wilson, who has five points in his first three games, and is fantastic directing the power play. Wilson, who has been passed over twice, could be an NHL draft next June. And a few months after that he’ll be in college. He’s an Ivy-level student and Cornell has reportedly offered him. A lot of other schools are onto him. He’s definitely one of the top uncommitted kids in the BCHL. A Calgary native, he’s in his second year in the BCHL.

Also
Carlos Fornaris, F, 2/7/95, 5-8/155 (RPI) -- The Miami, Florida native was penciled in on Cedar Rapids’ first line this weekend. The former NMH Hogger – he was the team’s leading scorer as a junior last season -- is a decent skater who really relies on his hands to beat defenders and make opportunities for himself.
