Re: RPI Recruit Thread 2012-13

Evan Tironese plays in his 1st intra-squad game tonight for the Canada West World Jr. A Team, Red vs Blue.....ET playing on Blue squad..... http://www.hockeycanada.ca/index.php/ci_id/199396/la_id/1.htm This was on the Hockey Canada page today..... http://www.hockeycanada.ca/index.php/ci_id/199485/la_id/1.htm

FWIW, my vague recollection was that York didn't even play. Obviously wrong. Since those threads have disappeared I can't check. I'll post this year's results later.

Re: RPI Recruit Thread 2012-13

ET didn't figure in the Blue's lone goal (Red beat Blue 2-1) tonight...James de Hass (Clarkson) scored the game winner for Red http://www.hockeycanada.ca/index.php/ci_id/199394/la_id/1.htm

They play again on Wednesday.

Was the typo in de Haas's name intentional? I think that Hass, which is German for Hate, is most appropriate for a Clarkson player. :D (Of course "von Hass" would be even better.)

Re: RPI Recruit Thread 2012-13

The July USHR posts are now public http://ushr.com/news/20120701. They include reviews of Drew Melanson and Charles Manley's paly in US Select camps which were paraphrased earlier.

9. Drew Melanson (#8 Kelly Green) 5-11/160—RPI recruit may have had the best feet here—his skating is effortless. Is on the slight side, but his speed, quickness and agility make him extremely hard to contain. Was quiet at the start of the tournament, but exploded for five points in his final two games. Was a teammate of Baiocco’s at Delbarton, but will not be returning as he has chosen to play his senior with the Omaha Lancers (USHL). Was named to the U18 Select team headed overseas.

29. Charles Manley (#7 Columbia Blue, 0-2-2) 5-10/160 — Appears to be getting taller and filling out. Has great feet. RPI recruit who plays at Selects Hockey Academy.

Re: RPI Recruit Thread 2012-13

Second-youngest player on the team (and it is four months to the next-youngest after him). One player is two-and-a-half years older than ET. Great accomplishment for him.
And the one who is younger is only two weeks younger. It probably means that he will be looked at to be one of the leaders next year.

thanks for posting this RB. I always enjoy reading the USHR stories/updates (even a couple of months removed). I noticed that former Engineer Volunteer Coach, Jaroslav Modry & Stephen Gionta (who skated w/the Eng.at the Capt.'s Practices) participated over the summer in a game promoting awareness for Autism. :)

I used to subscribe to USHR, but after a while it just seemed too expensive for the amount material relevant to RPI taht is there. What is there however, is indeed quite useful.
