Melanson is through for the night too. (Must have been a big fight. I wonder what is the difference between a Fighting Game Misconduct and a Fighting Game Ejection.) :eek: I'll post the fiinal boxscore whenever I wake up.

Melanson got some cuts on a hand according to a picture on his twitter page. It doesn't look at all serious. Considering all of our concern about his build, it is somewhat good to see that he got involved and apparently survived.

that would be too bad if Melanson were to be suspended for Saturday's game what with SA being in attendance....haven't read anything on either teams site as of yet regarding suspensions though.

You don't have to be very big to get involved in a fight-but it is good to see that he is willing to mix it up if need be and as you pointed out-he seemed to come out of it mostly OK.

I don't know the USHL rules but note that some players received Game Misconducts (e.g., Melanson) and some Game Ejections along with the fighting penalties. Ejection sounds more serious.

I would think that he would know the rule, but considering how many people think that a Game Misconduct results in an NCAA suspension, he may not. I would think that if a Fighting penalty alone would warrant a suspension in the USHL, one would see more multiple roughing penalties, and certainly DeVito had many fighting penalties last year without suspension.

We just need him to land his jabs on soft tissue areas, instead of helmets....

As a kid growing up-I got the best advice from my mom. She had been a professional athlete back in the 30's and 40's when most women just did not do that sort of thing. She told me when threatened with a fight-just walk or skate away. But if you can't-then just make sure you land the first punch. Don't stand there and posture or threaten-just throw(and hopefully land) the first punch. She had a wicked temper-and it did not take much for her to resort to hitting either me or someone else. My dad related the story of how she decked Frederick Murray Patrick (Muzz) of NY Ranger fame once in the mezzanine of the first old MSG when he started hassling her about a player from the NY Rovers she was cheering for playing in a matinee game.:eek:

Totally agree with mom's approach. I'm a very patient man and have a very long fuse, but in the few times in my life when I have reached the end of my rope and gotten into physical altercations (usually teeing off on wanna-be bullies) bystanders have told me that my "eruptions" were swift and decisive. Haaa..

I think you're right RB. The USHL is a fighting league, so unless someone leaves the bench or instigates, I'
ve got to think he'll be in the lineup.

It wouldn't surprise me if "Game Ejection" were the same thing as college's "Game Disqualification" or the IIHF's "Match Penalty".

Sheldon Dries was the GB player who received the Fighting Game Ejection yesterday vs Omaha....he's in the lineup for Gb in today's game.
