I've since learned that Bourbonnais re-aggravated a groin injury this past Friday night, and that's why he did not play Saturday. I hope he's back in the lineup when the playoffs start later this week. He's been one of Lincoln's best forwards as of late.

And yes, Ralph...I certainly did not shed a tear when Omaha was eliminated for postseason play. :)

Thanks for the info about Bourbonnais. Also thanks for stating that he has been one of Lincoln's best forwards. To those of us who don't see him play, it just seems that his scoring has been down since he arrived at Lincoln.

This article by Ed Weaver states

The incoming freshmen players for RPI are forwards Riley Bourbonnais, Jake Wood and either Jimmy DeVito or Drew Melanson (the other come aboard for the 2014-15 season), defenseman Parker Reno and goalie Jake Soffer.

So, at least according to Ed Weaver, if Melanson comes this fall, DeVito won't.

Haven't we decided that the NLI does not mean that he is coming this year? Seriously, it does make a lot of sense that not both are coming this fall.

I do agree with your implication that Weaver could be wrong.

The National Letter of Intent, as signed earlier this season, is a legally binding contract that dictates where and when the signer's freshman year of eligibility will be. Backing out of that means a loss of a year of eligibility, as well as ineligibility that year at any other school.

Is that true? If so, it must be hockey-specific as I know it is not the case for football. Schools often push out NLI signers to January (gray-shirting) or the following fall once they sort out how many scholarships are available after graduations, early draft entries, transfers, academic or rule violation decisions, etc.

Football is slightly different because the dates for signing are different just due to when the sport is played. What does the contract for football state?

Nowhere do I see it saying that it has to be fulfilled the next year http://www.ncaa.org/wps/wcm/connect/nli/nli.
