Re: RPI Recruit Thread 2011-12 Part II

They probably have completed the application process when they're added but delayed entering RPI. (for obvious hockey reasons) A friend of mine applied to Brandeis senior year of high school and got in normally and then delayed entering for a year so he could go to a professional circus program.

Was his major clown political science?

Re: RPI Recruit Thread 2011-12 Part II

Wouldn't they only put a student in the directory if their application was in? Granted, player-who-must-not-be-named was also in the directory.
That's my opinion too. It means that there application is complete and they have passed admissions. It wouldn't mean anything as far as the NCAA is concerned. SA probably asked those three to go through admssions last year because they might have been needed. i would think that it would be the case with Bourbonnais now too.

From the directory.

Name: Milos Bubela
Class: First-Year Student
Curriculum: Business and Management

I would guess that being in the directory doesn't imply that he got by the NCAA clearing house, but it is a good sign.

Agree with your take RB. ..good news

There is a post on USHR about the U-16 camp. Is there anything about Manley?

Re: RPI Recruit Thread 2011-12 Part II

Finally, we get to see what the team will be like this season.
I especially like the comments about the defensemen. They have a lot of potential and with our current group, they will have the time to grow into the NCAA game. Looks very good for the future of our defense corps.
There are also a couple of forwards I look forward to watching. Bubela and Zalewski should be worth watching.
Lets drop the puck!!!

I agree about Bubela and Zalewski.

I chuckled when I read the comment "The way he plays is a great fit for our style” about Miller. I guess that our style is indeed not scoring much. :)

Sorry Ralph. I meant to say 29th ranked defenseman.

Thanks.

That sounds like about the middle of the pack, which isn't bad for a select camp. Hopefully we will find more about him next season than last.

Re: RPI Recruit Thread 2011-12 Part II

I'm so excited...

Lots of leaders (captains, assistant captains) in this group. Seems in keeping with what Coach Appert stresses about the team being character guys off the ice in addition to on-ice skill.

It does, but we do need scoring also, whether the players are leaders or not.

Lots of leaders isn't a good thing, actually. Sure, it means good character off the ice, but it also means you get a situation, similar to what we saw in our first couple of months last year when our entire freshman class were either a C or A, where people are trying too hard, possibly feeling like they have to lead the team and make that big move. As has been mentioned several times, we had great individuals, but a horrible team. The last time I checked, the name on the back doesn't win or lose games.
