RPI Pros IV

Re: RPI Pros IV

JD'A still very much in Toronto's plans.........7.
Jerry D’Amigo, Left Wing,
Kitchener Rangers/Toronto Marlies, OHL/AHL,
158th overall, 2009, 20 years old,
5’11, 206.
D’Amigo is a good mix of skill and determination. He is very fast and really excels on special teams (both PP and PK) where his speed can kill. He has an above average shot and solid passing skills. He is solidly built and fights hard along the boards. After an amazing WJC and rookie year at RPI D’Amigo went to the AHL and soon found himself on the 4th line and getting limited minutes, so he was shipped to Kitchener where his play was solid. Despite this apparent setback D’Amigo will be back with the Marlies and looking for a top-6 slot where he can use his offensive skills.
Upside: 2nd/3rd Line Forward
NHL Comparable: Lauri Korpikoski.......http://www.hockeybuzz.com/blog/Brian-Huddle/10-Toronto-Maple-Leafs-Top-10-Prospects/153/37321......Looks to have lost a little weight.

Re: RPI Pros IV

It is getting to be that time of year, players will be signing to play this coming season.I have been watching out for Kirk MacDonald, as he is a free agent and has not signed yet.
Also will be following all of last years seniors to see where they end up.
And of course, I will be looking for Pirri and D'Amigo as the year goes on.
Keep the posts coming.

Re: RPI Pros IV

I know that coach Appert said that Chase made Pirri and D'Amigo better players, and he certainly proved that he didn't need them this year. I think that playing with talented professionals will make Polacek even better.
It would not surprise me if he made it to the NHL before either Pirri or D'Amigo. JMO.

Re: RPI Pros IV

interesting sidenote to Chase being on the roster is that Jay Barriball (also on roster) was a teammate of Chase & Bryan Brutlag at The Academy of Holy Angels.

Size may be the only thing working against him. He certainly impressed me that he had all the tools. I would love to see him get the chance to play at the highest level.

Doc, since the rule changes in the NHL, size does not seem to be a big a factor as it was in the past.
If a smaller player has the tools and the tenacity, he has a very good shot. Chase has both.

EHF; I agree that the rules being changed has opened up some avenues. But look at the rosters of most of the NHL teams-those boys are all still pretty darn big and the number of smaller players is still pretty slim. But in spite of that, I think Chase has the tools to make an impact somewhere.
