Re: RPI Pros IV

Your first career win against a landmark team like that? Gotta be good.

Congrats, Yorkie!

Now I just hope they don't decide to play Steve Mason again this year. Give York his chance to finish out the season, as he's now shown he can win.

Re: RPI Pros IV

In an interview on the Columbus web site, York mentioned that this was his first win in four months in any league.
He had a big smile on his face when he said that. He was one very happy individual.

Good for him! It was practically his first game in four months. I love the look of relief on his face at the end of the game.

Now that I've actually watched the highlights...the Jackets looked like a completely different team, and had the Red Wings on their heels for most of the game, it seemed. Sometimes a goaltending shakeup will do that for you. And it looked like he didn't have much chance on either goal he allowed, with the one bouncing in off possibly his own d-man, and being completely screened by players from both teams for the second.

There wasn't much of a screen from the Columbus player, but the Detroit forward had an excellent screen. You're absolutely right, though, that the defence really stepped it up, and that helped a whole heap.

Mostly agree-until the last 15 minutes when Detroit really turned up the heat. Columbus just could not clear their zone and there were tons of shots coming from all over-mostly the point with men in front. Allen played extremely well though during that stretch. He made a number of very tough saves and stopped some that he could not possibly have seen until the very last second. He showed that he has what it takes to be an NHL goalie and kept his poise. Really nice to see an ex RPI goalie win one in the big time-I guess we haven't seen that since Puppa.

That is correct since Neil Little lost both games that he played. The only other RPI goalie to ever play in the NHL was Don Cutts who, according to HockeyDB had a 1-2-1 record, so York is tied for second in wins and third in points. :)

Re: RPI Pros IV

According to the Blue Jackets' gameday blog, York should be getting the start again tonight.

YORK STARTS: Allen York was the first goaltender off the ice this morning. Looks like he's the starter tonight against Florida. It will be York's third career NHL start and second in a row.
