RPI Pros IV

Re: RPI Pros IV

Yeah, Columbus is in a rough place. However, York let in 6 goals on 28 shots in two periods yesterday, then was replaced in the third (by Paul Dainton who also let in three goals). Maybe he really is struggling.:(

That was one thing I had felt when York was at RPI, especially his freshman year, that he really had some rough games, and you could almost tell he was a bit off that night. But if you catch him on a night his game is on, you're going to earn ANYTHING you get past him...

Re: RPI Pros IV

I understand that the kids may be having a tough time, but you have to find out what you have as an organization. Playing Legace just looks like they have given up on their kids.
Put one of the young guys in there for five/ten games in a row and then make a decision.
These comments have nothing to do with York, the organization needs to be proactive with the kids. JMO

Considering they decided to shop for another goalie while the Colgate kid was injured and York was in the NHL, I'm not surprised in the least that they don't want to play the new talent.

It makes no sense, unless they have already decided that the kids they have are not the answer.
It seems a little early for that, but it could be the case.

Re: RPI Pros IV

Has anyone heard about an injury to York? It seems hard to believe that he could go from the NHL in his first professional season, to back up in the ECHL. And that is what he has been this weekend.

Re: RPI Pros IV

EHF and Turk-also remember that professional hockey is sometimes all about the money. Perhaps there is some fine print in the contract York has which determines how much money he is paid by how many games he plays and where he plays them. I know I had this kind of thing happen back 10 years ago with a player i was close with. His salary was determined by how many or what percentage of games he played at what level. Just a thought since i have followed the situation with York and am also confused by the way he has been handled.

Re: RPI Pros IV

No ECHL All-Star game this year. But, they do have a fan vote for players to wear a "Special Jersey" as chosen by the fans. Only B.Brutlag is on the ballot but you can type in your pick. Bakersfield (Eric Burgdoerfer & Tyler Helfrich)...Chicago(Allen York)....Cincinnati(Jeff Foss, currently in the AHL)...Wheeling(Peter Merth, currently in the AHL).....http://www.echl.com/forms/fan_balloting-f59. In today's Bakersfield game Helfrich scored their lone goal with the primary assist to Burgdoerfer http://echl.com/stats/game-summary.php?game_id=9162

Re: RPI Pros IV

Polacek missed last weekend's games for the Rivermen because of an undisclosed upper-body injury he sustained in practice. According to their beat writer, he's still injured and didn't even make this weekend's road trip:eek:

Re: RPI Pros IV

if you have NHL Network, today's Marlies/Hamilton outdoor game will be re-broadcast Sunday @ 3pm....just in time to get back from the HFH after watching Jake Wood take on Alb. Aca. @ 11:15 am............as a teaser, JD'A was named #3 Star of the game.

My first thought is "what if". :(

RPI certainly would have had 2 talented Juniors this year. Both might have been in better bargaining positions for potential remuneration. There might even have been a national NCAA award available to one of them (Hobey anyone?). Only time will tell if their extremely early jump to the pros was the right move.

Re: RPI Pros IV

Pirri has done pretty well in his NHL appearances, maybe he can stick around a little longer this time. :)

Considering the amount of veteran talent at center in that club, I wouldn't be surprised if he goes back to the AHL once Toews becomes healthy again. Of course, if they get bit by the salary cap again, Pirri could easily see a slot.
