Re: RPI Pick to Click 2014-15: Under New Management
The Icebreaker tournament will go down as a relative success for the Engineers, who despite not being able to take the crown, earned the split and gave the current #1 a good game. We USCHO pickers also had a good week (tournaments will do that), with no one earning fewer than 5 points and the average being a little over 9 points.
Jason Kasdorf (no one) was the best Engineer on the weekend, earning a pair of quality starts for 4 points, but since you were limited to a single goalie for the weekend, one of
Jacob Laliberte (burgie12, MavHockey14, TuteScrooge, rsfs04, lugnut92),
Viktor Liljegren (engineerhockeyfan), or Mark Miller (no one) with one goal for 2 points each would have been better strategic picks for RPI.
As for Irish picks, defenseman
Jordan Gross (no one) with one goal for 3 points was the best choice.
Bulldog goalie
Matt McNeely (no one) ended up being the best choice in net despite playing only one game by earning a shutout QS and an assist for 9 (nine!) points in Sunday's game against Notre Dame. As for skaters, F
Dominic Toninato (3 G, 1 A; no one) was worth a minuscule 7 points.
Finally, the champion Golden Gophers. Netminder
Adam Wilcox (1 QS, 1 SO; vizoroo, FlagDUDE08, MavHockey14, lugnut92) and forward
Kyle Rau (1 G, 3 A; burgie12, RKarger) were each worth 5 points, with Rau being the smart pick.
