RPI Pick to Click 2013-14: Revenge of the Nerds

Re: RPI Pick to Click 2013-14: Revenge of the Nerds

Link back to the title post with details on scoring

There's a week-long break before RPI takes on Dartmouth at home and Union at the Times Union Center, so rest up and lick your wounds before jumping in with both feet.

Go take this opportunity to support the Women Engineers as they take on the Dutchwomen and could use a sweep to solidify their playoff positioning.

You may not choose the following players for this game:
RPI - Ryan Haggerty NOR Chris Bradley
Dartmouth - Eric Neiley NOR Andy Simpson
Union - Daniel Carr NOR Mat Bodie

Statistics / Rosters:
Rensselaer: Statistics | Roster
Dartmouth: Statistics | Roster | KYE
Union: Statistics | Roster | KYE

Another reason not to choose DC's Neiley https://twitter.com/chnews/status/425356727223988224.

Re: RPI Pick to Click 2013-14: Revenge of the Nerds

Figured you'd know about it, Ralph. I was unaware that he'd played college hockey.

I apologize to everyone for continuing this conversation here instead of on the RPI alumni thread (or the regular RPI thread), but I just noticed in that article "Most memorable meeting took place March 10, 2007, when former RIP goalie Farrelly ..."

Re: RPI Pick to Click 2013-14: Revenge of the Nerds

Congratulations to Ralph and cnor! They both get seven points on three picks to get bonus points. It's Ralph's second consecutive win and cnor's first of the season. With his seven point weekend, cnor finally passes REDaero and joins the rest of the regular posters. :D

Friday night in Troy, the Engineers had a goal and assist each from Milos Bubela (nobody) and Ryan Haggerty (ineligible). Geoff Ferguson (nobody) scored Dartmouth's first goal, so he was the most valuable Big Green player. I was the only poster to not score two PtC points from their RPI choice on Friday, but ehf and I were the only ones able to tally anything on the Ivy side, so it mostly evened out.

Supposedly, there was a hockey game in Albany on Saturday night in addition to the brawl. Milos Bubela and Mike Zalewski (Ralph) scored the goals for RPI, Curtis Leonard (cnor and FlagDUDE) had the secondary assist on Bubela's goal, and Scott Diebold (nobody) earned (and I truly mean earned) the victory for 2 PtC points each. Bubela was more valuable Friday night, so it was just the other three that should've been chosen. Shayne Gostisbehere scored Union's lone goal, so he was the high-scorer for the Dutchmen. Also, shame on the three of you who picked Stevens. Shame shame shame.

Ralph now has a seven-point lead over lugnut in 2nd. There's another 7-point gap between MavHockey and TuteScrooge, but then just two points between 4th and 7th. And also just two points between FlagDUDE in 10th and viz in 13th. TuteScrooge was the big mover, jumping an idle RKarger and another two posters in front of him.

They've won two games in a row. If they get another, they get to call that a winning streak!

The Engineers head on the dreaded North Country trip and will be shorthanded on Friday with just 19 eligible skaters.

Clarkson sits in 4th place, just five points ahead of the Engineers. With 10 games left, they're certainly within reach. But, the Knights are 4-1-0 at home this ECAC season. Will definitely be a tough game.

St. Lawrence is just one spot behind RPI in 9th, but they're 4 points back. Saturday would be a great opportunity to build up some distance and the Saints are 0-5-0, so the possibility is there.

You may not choose the following players for this game:
RPI - Ryan Haggerty NOR Chris Bradley
Clarkson - Ben Sexton NOR Paul Geiger
St. Lawrence - Gavin Bayreuther NOR Greg Carey

Statistics / Rosters:
Rensselaer: Statistics | Roster
Clarkson: Statistics | Roster | KYE (beware of J. / M. Zarbo confusion)
St. Lawrence: Statistics | Roster | KYE (beware of G. / M. Carey confusion)
