Friday:

Saturday:

I pretty much just threw the names in a hat and drew someone at random for the non-SLU choices.

Also, bumpity-bump-bump.

Re: RPI Pick to Click - 2011-12

Two shutouts in three games, eh? Not too shabby.

cnor, hawthr, and vizoroo were the big winners this week. This was cnor's 5th weekly win of the season, while hawthr captured the bonus point for the third time and viz picked up her second win of the season. hawthr and viz used the O'Grady (Friday) / Morley combo for their six points while cnor was one of two posters to correctly choose the Merriam shutout and then he picked up a point from Sexton's assist on Clarkson's second goal.

cnor narrows the gap between GRussinko / Ralph and the rest of the field, hawthr takes back 4th place from RKarger, and viz jumps from 11th to 7th place. REDaero's 3 points moved her up a couple points while MavHockey has fallen out of the top 10 due to his failure to submit picks in three of his last four weekends.

The top scorers of the weekend:
Friday:
RPI - Merriam's shutout (cnor, lugnut) was worth 5 PtC points. Cullen's pair of goals (nobody) made him the highest-scoring position player of the night.
St. Lawrence - NOBODY! :D :D
Saturday:
RPI - Guy's first-period goal (nobody) was worth three.
Clarkson - Morley's goal and assist (hawthr, vizoroo) and Boak's opening goal (nobody) were also each worth three.

Link back to the title post with details on scoring

The Engineers close out their four-game homestand with a pair of games against Cornell and Colgate, statistically the best travel partner pair in the ECAC this season. Friday night is RPI Spirit Day while Saturday is the BRF! So, show up, be loud, and cheer for the Engineers.

The Cornell Faux Red have gotten some strong, balanced scoring and have a power play operating at a 20% clip while the penalty kill is shockingly only at a 75% success rate. It looks like there's a new brand of hockey being played in Ithaca.

Last season, RPI broke its losing streak in the BRF! against Yale. This season, RPI looks to continue their winning streak on the most glorious of games.

You may not choose the following players for this weekend:
Rensselaer:
F - Brock Higgs
D - Nick Bailen

Cornell:
F - Greg Miller OR Brian Ferlin
D - Nick D'Agostino

Colgate:
F - Austin Smith
D - Jeremy Price

Statistics / Rosters:
Rensselaer: Statistics | Roster
Cornell: Statistics | Roster
Colgate: Statistics | Roster (beware of J. / K. McNamara confusion)

I did not know they played Yale on saturday :p

Re: RPI Pick to Click - 2011-12

Time for my über-awesome picks:

Well, first I'm going to hedge my bet... we haven't beat them without a shutout in over 10 years... but it's the third year (06, 09; didn't happen in 03 though)
RPI - Bryce Merriam
SUNY - Andy Iles
Watch this game end up a 1-1 tie...

And for the BRF...
RPI - Marty O'Grady
Gate - Chris Wagner

BIG RED FREAKOUT!
This year's Freakout! victim: Kevin McNamara
Just warning you...
Kevin McNamara has not played the last 4 games. Jack McNamara has not played the last 3 games.

Are they both injured... or just in the doghouse with Don Vaughan?
Jack McNamara took a hit in the Harvard game back on 1/20 and hasn't played since. Kevin hasn't played since the Qpac game on 1/14. If I had to guess, Kevin has been an injured scratch; Jack a mix of injured scratch and being one of the odd men out with Billy Rivellini (junior) and Mark Nasca (senior) getting regular shifts.
