RPI Pick to Click: 2010-2011 Edition

Re: RPI Pick to Click: 2010-2011 Edition

Thanks for the new post, hawthr. I've got the update in my spreadsheet.

Still looking for picks from GRussinko and a valid set from babo.

The puck drops at 3:30. Go Engineers!

Re: RPI Pick to Click: 2010-2011 Edition

Congratulations go out to GoDanGo, RHamilton, and TuteScrooge, who won the weekend by choosing Bergin. This is GoDanGo's first weekly win, while it's TuteScrooge's second straight and RHamilton's third (but first since the game in Lake Placid. Bergin was the top scorer PtC-wise with two assists. Both Megan and Ruikka were worth two points, but no one chose either player.

There were no big moves in the overall standings, with just a couple of swaps being the entirety of the changes.

There's a 6-person log jam around 3rd place, with just 3 points separating vizoroo (3rd) from GoDanGo and TuteScrooge (7th and 8th).

So, Results (and link to Google spreadsheet with cumulative results):

Link back to the title post with details on scoring

RPI beats the #7 Terriers and is going to help the USA Juniors team warm up for the tournament in Buffalo after the 25th.

This is going to be another PtC exhibition, where the points earned do not count towards the overall standings.

For Week 9.5, I'm also going to experiment with some additional scoring systems, just for fun. (I know that one game is not enough to gather any statistical significance, but I'm going to have fun with it anyways.)

The points earned for goals, assists, wins, and shutouts will not change. A minor penalty called on the player of your choice will be worth -0.2 points. A major penalty / game misconduct will be worth -0.5 points. A game disqualification will be worth -1 point. The player's +/- rating will be worth 0.1 points (For example, if your player is +2, you score 0.2 points.).

You may not choose the following players for this weekend of games:
Rensselaer:
F - Chase Polacek
D - Nick Bailen

USA U-20:
Everyone is fair game

Statistics / Rosters:
Rensselaer: Statistics | Roster
U-20s: Preliminary Roster

Too bad we can't choose a goon of the game. Of course you'd have to get a stat on hits. :P

RPI, I will pick Brutlag.
USA, I will take the former RPI'er, Jerry.

Re: RPI Pick to Click: 2010-2011 Edition

Well, since this won't count, I'll go directly to the dartboard instead of trying to think about it first.

RPI: Bergin
U20: JD'A

Re: RPI Pick to Click: 2010-2011 Edition

RPI - Brutlag
USA - Jerry!

How can you not pick him, for sentimental sake?

Re: RPI Pick to Click: 2010-2011 Edition

RPI - Helfrich
USA - Kyle Palmieri

EHF - Isn't Morin still up with the Blackhawks? Not trying to knock your selection, just pointing out he may not be at the game on Sunday.

Re: RPI Pick to Click: 2010-2011 Edition

RPI: Helfrich
RP... erm... USA: D'Amigo

(Burgie, the results of your experiment may not reveal much when 90% of the participants pick the same player from USA's roster. :))

Re: RPI Pick to Click: 2010-2011 Edition

Congratulations go out to ehf, who "wins" his first week by being the <s>only</s> *ahem* one of two posters with a positive score.

Both Ralph and TS proves that they're human by finishing in the basement with -0.6 points.

Bo Dolan was the top scorer for the Engineers. Chris Brown was the best choice for the U20s. Mike Bergin racked up the lowest score (-0.5) on the night, while both Connor Brickley and Rocco Grimaldi both posted -0.2s.

After tallying up the scores, it's doubtful that penalties are going to come into play next season. +/- may be a stat that is considered. If you'd like, feel free to put an opinion on stats that you would like to see involved in the scoring for next season with your picks for this week.

RPI "beats" the USA U-20s in a shoot-out and gets a week off before heading down to Alabama to play the Chargers.

UAH is having a rough season, but is playing a hefty, hefty schedule and playing a lot of road games. The Engineers were nice enough to provide them with some home dates, but did it while the students are on break and right when the holidays are happening.

Have fun. You've got plenty of time to get these picks in (cut-off is next Thursday at 8:05), so I expect a record turn-out for number of posters. And, if you want to have an opinion on stats to be used for next season, go ahead and put them in with your picks.

Don't forget! RPI is playing the same team for both games, but you have to pick four different players. So, I better not see two Geoffrion picks by the same poster (unless, of course, you pick Brice for one game and Sebastian for the other :p)! That is all. Carry on. :D

You may not choose the following players for this weekend of games:
Rensselaer:
F - Chase Polacek
D - Nick Bailen

Alabama-Huntsville:
F - Keenan Desmet
D - Matt Baxter

Statistics / Rosters:
Rensselaer: Statistics | Roster

I hate to quibble,:o and I know it was only an exhibition, and it doesn't count in the final standings, but...
From your spreadsheet:
Jason Zucker--+1.1
Brutlag------ (.2)
Equals +.9
I'm positive too:cool:
