RPI Offseason Thread: Six Languages of Drivel

Re: RPI Offseason Thread: Six Languages of Drivel

Here’s a picture of the banner.Actually, banner is probably the wrong word. It looked like the whole thing was separated to fit onto each individual pane of plexi-glass.... https://twitter.com/Haggerty39/status/507298735916064769/photo/1

So is RPI still the only team in the ECAC that doesn't have banners in the rafters naming all the other teams in the league? I know we're currently the only team in the league that doesn't offer online ticket sales for games.

I had heard (from either Norris or Sachi) in the 2010-11 season when all of those renovations were happening that they were looking for new banners because the old ones didn't fit the new aesthetic. That was, of course, 3-4 years ago, so who knows what's going on there. I do particularly enjoy the banners they have at Yale, with the schools' seals and colors on each banner.

With only four weeks before the first game, has there been any sightings of captains practices? And at what point are the coaches able to hold practice sessions for the upcoming season?

We used to, when we used Ticketmaster.

Good eye Doc. Roster now has him @ 220.

It has been a while since Jen and i saw him-but his just put together like a Mack Truck. He hit very hard-and hopefully the ECAC refs do not penalize that by calling penalties by the sound of the hit;) as they often have done when Luke plasters someone against the boards. I wish someone would explain to the officials that a hard hit is not always a penalty or an illegal hit.

Re: RPI Offseason Thread: Six Languages of Drivel

For the football fans, RPI opened with a victory today at Norwich.

I've seen two versions of the box score online. Both of them indicate that RPI was leading by a score of 16-3 in the third quarter, when they scored a touchdown on an interception return, after which Andrew Franks' kick was blocked. So apparently the extra point attempt failed, but following that attempt, the score was 23-3.

Franks would go on to kick two more field goals and Norwich scored a fourth-quarter touchdown, so the official final score, including that questionable extra point, was 29-9.

Re: RPI Offseason Thread: Six Languages of Drivel

Not sure about that extra point-but with the score already 23-3 Norwich blocked a very short field goal attempt by Franks. One blocker cam in from our right side completely untouched and the kick hit him squarely. If they indeed also blocked a PAT, I hope we are working on this since franks may turn out to be our best offensive weapon. BTW Norwich was a presean favorite in their own league-not sure if that means we are very good this year or if their league is just very weak. Our offense was not terribly impressive but our defense was just smothering from what I was able to see. The video kept freezing on me so i just could not watch all that much of the game. Franks does have a heck of a leg though as most of his kickoffs are well over 60 yards.

The pictures were just posted today. They were not up when I checked the roster this morning to be sure who was #25. Also the freshman bios are new. Melanson's is missing as I write this.
