IMHO "who better is available" can't really be known until the job is open and advertised. Who applies for a coaching job depends on the timing, who's actively out there on the job market at that time, and those in the "hockey community," employed or not, who may decide to throw their name into the ring.

The RPI job will always draw a lot of interest, especially if the ECAC's resurgence of the last few seasons keeps up.

Marc-Andre Fleury may be helping the Rangers remember why they shelled out the big bucks to entice a certain high-scoring collegiate forward to forego his senior season.

Although he may be making it harder for them to remember why they didn't put Haggerty on the active roster.

An article from the Cornell Sun about RPI alum, former HFH PA announcer, and former editor of the Intercollegiate Hockey Newsletter, Don Birkmayer. To those like me who used the IcHN as a way to keep up with hockey before the Internet, it is truly amazing how things have progressed. Thanks to WaP for the link.

From the look of things Haggerty just might be giving the Rangers advice on how Rensselaer ran its powerplay.:eek:

considering that Haggs was 5th in the nation with 10PPs, if he is giving advice.....they're not listening. NO SOUP FOR YOU....NEXT!!!

Yup. Even after they gave Seth more money to coach, more money to recruit, lowered the academic standards Fridgen's record is still better. If Shirley gave Fridgen that support the former NHL player would probably have done a lot better than the former second string D1 goalie. Who hires a goalie to run your team. Wow how stupid is that!

This is really getting old. Fridgen inherited a very good hockey team and as those players filtered through his program, he ran it into the ground.
I don't think there is much difference between Fridgen and Appert as a bench coach, but Appert has brought in much better talent and played a much more difficult schedule, So comparing wins and losses is not going to be a very good barometer.
It is easy to understand the reasons that some of the fan base are upset with the Appert results, but a Fridgen comparison doesn't hold up.

And Lundquist reminded the Rangers why they should leave him OFF the playoff roster. Until he figures out what he's supposed to do in his teams end of the ice, street clothes is the uniform for him.

This whole comment is completely inaccurate with the exception of your first sentence. You should have left it at that!
