Re: RPI Offseason Part II: Mindless Drivel.

Yes.

I actually wrote it before Jooris departed, and updated it to include that. Pontarelli has a bright future but I suspect he could have used an extra year in juniors and I would not be surprised to see him struggle, especially out of the gate.
Thanks. I agree that he will struggle early, but I expect him to produce by midseason. One more season in juniors would have helped, but I do think that he will get the hang of things as the year wears on.

For what it's worth -

Pontarelli's assistant coach in juniors, former Clarkson goalie Dustin Traylen, told me there wasn't much more that Pontarelli could have been asked to do at that level. Traylen thinks Pontarelli could be a "four year force" at Union and that production could come "early and often" if he develops chemistry with his linemates.

Because if he wasn't, he'd have said so, I'm sure. Coaches are always talking trash about their players.

I see it still isn't a new day. Ralph must be on a bike ride.

RPIAthletics is doing a new series on season prep. Perhaps they will cover the open practice days. This one is from the football team.

I think Pontarelli will be a solid contributor - if healthy IMO, he could easily be in the 20 pt. range. He played in every situation in Cornwall and is a bigger than JL was as a freshman. The Spink twins are the most recent comparison --they put up 27/31 points respectively last season - certainly aided by skating together and having that 6th sense of having played together so long.

Re: RPI Offseason Part II: Mindless Drivel.

I don't know what's worse, Ralph's compulsion to post the date every day or the people who quickly jump on him if he misses one.

He finished third overall. Congratulations!
....great comeback! I was talking with Seth @ the HFH about 2 hrs. ago & he said NG was really cramping up in the 30's (miles). Unbeknownst to NG all the boys were waiting for him....not sure if they were all at the end or spread out for the last couple of miles. Great accomplishment! Should add that his wife & Kevin Anderson took turns running alongside him as encouragement.....I don't believe it was for the full 50 though. Looks like the Team was @ the finnish line..... https://twitter.com/SethAppert/status/368881030242906112/photo/1
