Re: RPI Off-Season Thread 2012: An Off-Season to Be Optimistic

... How about an RPI TV earmark? We might even be able to get you a private HD stream / not have to deal with B2 / watch on your TV if the price is right :-)

Now that is enticing. RPI TV and all associated with it do a fantastic job. I despise dealing with B2 and have only signed on sporadically in the past 2 years.:(

Re: RPI Off-Season Thread 2012: An Off-Season to Be Optimistic

Two questions:
1) Please elaborate and explain how this would actually help RPI be " ahead of the curve "?

2) What curve are you referring to?

S8P, I would be glad to elaborate. If Ivies split we would be left holding the bag much like many of the CCHA teams were after the formation of uber conference and Big ten conf. I believe that having our great coach as head of Coaches Assn, that he has his finger on the pulse with the dialogue he has with the rest of the coaching fraternity. I hope this shines a light in the darkness. All my best, AD

I believe it ended last year. However, his association with the group is likely still strong (just not as strong as before ;)).

First of all, it is only dark when I close my eyes. Being a member of the AHCA is enough to allow him to have dialogue with the rest of the coaching fraternity. Being ex-president has nothing to do with it!! :) Now, if you think that is staying ahead of the curve......fine. However, he would need to be a member of the Ivy League President's Association to really be out front.

Thanks for the attempt.

Re: RPI Off-Season Thread 2012: An Off-Season to Be Optimistic

Come to think about it, an ivy breakup would be quite detrimental to Atlantic Hockey, as the ECAC would now be able to provide a haven for not only the 4 scholarship programs, but it would give RIT an excuse to join. At this point, more schools need to be joining D-I hockey, not leaving.

RH, you're right again. I don't like to let little things like facts get in my way.

I also support this. Rpitv does a fantastic job.

Today is 14 March 2012. There are 206 days until RPI's next game.

This is based upon 6 October for the start of next season.

That is the day that an exhibition game is supposedly scheduled.

Your probably correct that IF there was a split within the current ECAC chances are the league would look to bring in some of the AHA schools that are looking to increase scholarships to 18. Whether its 2, 4 or 6 depending how many teams the "new" ECAC actually wants. Although, Im hoping none of this will matter and RPI will lock down that 12th spot in HEA but I have a feeling they will roll with 11 teams as long as they have to until UConn decides to upgrade or another big name eastern school adds hockey.
