Re: RPI Off-Season Thread 2011 Part II: The Bryce is Right

The RPI women's schedule has been posted on the official website. Since they start a week earlier than the men, perhaps next week we will see the men's schedule.

I believe the delay is the 3rd RPI/Union game. T/U Center was being discussed as a possibility but don't know how far they are getting with that. Might end up at either RPI or Union. RPI already has season ticket brochure and prices out so not sure how they would handle.

They also say a potential game against Bentley. Also, there's some question about the UNH rumors (but I doubt those are true). Also tack on an exhibition game. We're at 32 non-exempt games right now.

That doesn't mean that I've actually watched them. Remember, DrD, I'm a trivia buff.

OK- I buy that explanation since I am an old movie and TV and 50's Rock and Roll trivia buff and know a lot about things I never saw or heard.:)

Incoming D-Curtis Leonard will receive an OHA Top Prospect award next Friday at the Hockey HoF in Toronto.

Defenseman Curtis Leonard: The Napanee, Ontario native completed his third season with the Dukes and played a large role in helping his team reach the RBC Cup. His 30 points in 78 games is only more remarkable in that he was always on the ice as part of the shut-down tandem against the opponents number one scoring lines. Played for Team Canada East in the 2010 Prospects series and scored a goal. Assisted on the game winning goal in the Dudley Hewitt championship game against the Huntsville Otters and was named MVP of the game. Ranked among North American skaters by Central Scouting for the 2011 NHL draft. Will be attending NCAA Division One RPI this fall.

Edit: Matt Neal will actually receive the same award.

Today is 2 June 2011. There are 121 days until RPI's next game.

This is based upon 1 October for the start of next season.

That is the day that an exhibition game is supposedly scheduled.

2011-2012 season is really starting to look exciting.:D
Does SA change his philosophy concerning, "led by our seniors". Probably not but it sure looks like the incoming class (hardware in tow) has the kind of talent to make an immediate impact on the ice this year.

So did last year's class, as well as the class before. Who led those teams?

Captains have been named: http://rpiathletics.com/news/2011/6/2/MHOCK_0602112433.aspx

Bergin & Malchuk each get the C
Angers-Goulet & Smith each get an A

I am surprised Justin gets the A. We don't get to see him on the ice very much, so he must be a terrific off-the-ice and in-practice motivator. Given he's stayed with the program and not transferred despite the lack of time on the ice (stares at Cyr and Watts), he must have one of the best "Never give up, never surrender" attitudes on the team.

Smith is a very surprising pick. It could be his reward for sticking with the program and adding a great attitude in the "room" for all of the guys that don't get to play every weekend.
Just one more thing to like about the way Seth Appert goes about his business.

You are on a serious, serious losing streak, DUDE. There's a reason why we don't get to pick who wears letters. You're surprised by Smith? Why? Are you privy to his impact in the locker room? Do you have some kind of inside knowledge about Cyr and Watts that you'd like to share with the rest of the class? Can you explain how you have deduced that he has been named a captain because he has a "Never give up, never surrender" attitude?

My patience is wearing extremely thin. This isn't discussion material, this is know-it-all blather.
