RPI Off-Season III: Another Helping of Mindless Speculation and Idle Chit Chat

Re: RPI Off-Season III: Another Helping of Mindless Speculation and Idle Chit Chat

I had wondered if that possibility was going to be raised also. I am still waiting for something about a rumor to appear in the print media. It hasn't appeared in any of the CD papers, and I think that someone would have posted it if a Boston paper mentioned it.
talking with some of the hockey writers yesterday up in Lake Placid they're expecting some kind of decision from Notre Dame on the 18th. Also had the opportunity to talk with Brian Skrudland, who now scouts for Florida. He was telling me about his days playing with Mike McPhee (I had my RPI hat on). Said he was one of the best wingers he played with.

The link (in post 340) connects to a story indicating that the US beat Russia, 5-4.

You consider this unfortunate for some reason?

stopped by HFH this morning. Noticed that the "band scaffolding" that was behind the bldg. is no longer there. Was only able to look into ice area thru the doors inside the ticket area. The glass was fogged up so I couldn't see across to the area where the band used to be. Noticed the banner that displayed, "NCAA Tournament Appearances", does not yet have 2011 on it. There's also 2 (40"?) flat screen TVs on the walls in the ticket area. Woman at the window told me she believed they would be used to show the game in progress

Not at all. The link that I cliked on was from the previous US game in which they lost to Finland 6-3 :o Sorry about that.

I assume that the link used to point to yesterday's loss.

Edit: Slow again. :D

Re: RPI Off-Season III: Another Helping of Mindless Speculation and Idle Chit Chat

Omaha Lancers released their 27 man roster for this seasons training camp and as expected F-Mark Miller will be back in Omaha this season. Also looks like Lancers futures pick F-Drew Melanson will be returning to Delbarton for his junior season.

Has anyone heard anything about which USHL club Kasdorf will be with this season? Currently Fargo only has one goaltender listed on the roster posted on their website...

Des Moines. He's one of three on their protected list.

I like the TVs in the ticket area, Northeastern has it like that and I enjoyed it last season while waiting to get into Matthews....too many drinks at the bar made my group a tad late.

IIRC, that "NCAA Tournament Appearances" banner that was hung up last season didnt have room to add 2011. So I'd imagine they'll be getting another banner with 2011 on it, hopefully leaving some room to add future dates this time.

Ahh thats right, Des Moines was mentioned here as a likely destination a couple weeks ago.
The two other keepers both were at camp for DM this summer. Should be interesting to see how the numbers game plays out in the crease. Hopefully Kaz can go in there and take the reigns.

Kaz is the guy in DM. The goalie DM took in the 3rd round (Drost) has since been traded to Chicago (i assume) since he's now on the roster on their website.

Re: RPI Off-Season III: Another Helping of Mindless Speculation and Idle Chit Chat

Just curious here, does anyone know what the status is of the proposal to have the full face cage removed and replaced with the half shield? I only bring it up because this is the first week of captain practices and from reading a couple of the players tweets it seems some are having a little issue adjusting to the full cage. Im guessing this is a common occurance across college hockey, seeing almost all junior leagues in North America dont require players to wear the full cage.

I believe all or most of the NCAA coaches are in favor of the switch, why havent we seen a change over yet?

Not sure but theres really no reason for him not to be in Troy right now. Since the practices are open to the public, I was hoping turk or somebody else knew what time they usually start during the week.
