RPI Off season 2025

Time to reflect on where this team has been, and where it is going. 18 years in the ECAC and the only two years that we have been above .500 on ECAC record was under the coaching of John Burke (.568 in 08-09 and .591 i 09-10). This year's record was about in the middle of the pack for those 18 years.....364 and a 10th place finish and early playoff exit. Is there any reason to be optimistic about where we go from here?

Both are talented players, no question about it. Watched almost every women’s game this year and I felt Trnkova, despite her skill, did not fit in. No matter the score, I felt this team stuck together and tried hard to win and supported each other. But Trnkova struck me as someone who was in it for her own benefit.

I sat behind the bench most games. The players would stand along the boards watching, cheering, and supporting their teammates, no matter what the score was. Trnkova would sit on the bench behind her teammates looking like she couldn’t be bothered. Maybe I am wrong about her but she just didn’t behave like the other players did.

As to Skoda- she has good talent but her skating is not her strong point. She will be accepted by another team but her skating will limit how high a ranked team she will be on and how much ice time she will get.

All in all though I don’t think this will hurt the team as much as people think.

We lost one Czech; we gained another Barbora Proskova

Trnkova congratulated her in the comments.

edit; i forgot that we also lost Erbenova. Also Proskova appears to be for 2026.

Can understand a good part of this. But not hurting? Losing 25% of the goals scored and almost as high a percentage of total points from a team that was challenged offensively has to hurt. Not sure where the points will come from unless we have some secret weapons in our incoming class. Also these were 2 of our most effective defensive players against some of the bigger ladies of the ECAC that we faced. In most games our smaller players got pushed around pretty easily and we get to face players like Issy Wunder et al for another 2 years.

@Ralph Baer There is a Twitter/X account named Women's Hockey Commitments (@whockeycommits) that has listed several RPI commits in the last couple days for 26-27, in addition to Proskova:

Kate Elbrecht (Northwood)
Keira Johnson (Central York Panthers)
Sadie Bellissimo (Cushing Academy)
Miriam Toet-Uddveg (Modo J20)

David - thanks for the post - I do not know much but friends tell me Bellissimo is a goalie and Elbrecht and Toet-Uddveg are both big forwards. i have no statistics about any of these girls and will await Ralph's usual intensive searching. I would suspect that several are for 2026 but really do not know. Nice to see that we are able to have so much interest in the program at least from the ladies side.
