RPI @ Northeastern, Friday night!

Re: RPI @ Northeastern, Friday night!

Whistelfest continues...another payback call. HE refs are doing their best at making the ECAC refs look competent.

Re: RPI @ Northeastern, Friday night!

End of the second period-tied at 2-2. Lots of special teams play with 19 penalties called so far. We are getting the reputation of taking a load of penalties again this year. RPI called for their 10th penalty at the end of the period-hold the fort.

The HE refs are doing their best at making the ECAC zebras look competent..19 penalties in 2 periods of hockey? C'mon

Re: RPI @ Northeastern, Friday night!

19 penalties? Wow!

Since it is between periods, I'll offer this update from elsewhere in the world of sports -

Texas 3, New York 0 after one inning. C. C. Sabathia walked three and gave up three hits, throwing 36 pitches in the inning. The inning ended when he heaved a pitch over Posada's head to the backstop but was able to tag the runner trying to score from third out at the plate.

One of the bad things is that we are getting a national reputation as a team that takes a lot of penalties. This can come back to haunt us later as refs begin to believe that we are deserving of more penalties. Also, we are playing games that just have no consistent flow of 5 on 5 hockey. We have got to stay out of the box.

Re: RPI @ Northeastern, Friday night!

Although there's plenty of special teams play, we're going OK so far with it... killing off all of our penalties, and 2 goals on the power play. This will come down to special teams, and if we can hold our own in these situations, this should have an exciting finish.

Re: RPI @ Northeastern, Friday night!

Nolan Graham interview on 2nd intermission. Primary duties - recruiting, offensive systems, PP. His coaching philosophy is to focus on the small details. Loved playing in the east for RPI and was excited to come back to his alma mater. Credits Bill Cahill (god bless him) for giving him an opportunity and "changing my life."

Graham on Rogic: Hard worker, great feet, quick. Can beat guys wide. Responsible defensively, good in the faceoff circle.

Nolan sounds very mature and composed...great to have him back.

I would say that we have historically had that reputation.

Re: RPI @ Northeastern, Friday night!

Third period may come down to which team simply has the better legs-or which coach can make the adaptations necessary. Just hope it does ot come down to a call by the officials.

Re: RPI @ Northeastern, Friday night!

In our defense Doc, NU is keeping pace in the sin bin tonight. You gotta admit, the Brutlag instigating call was a joke, and I'm not even at the game. No punches or shoves and the guy is all of 5'10 on his tiptoes...
