RPI@MSU-M Saturday 10/20/12

Re: RPI@MSU-M Saturday 10/20/12

Not going to be a fun trip back to Troy. Lost opportunities both nights. Hopefully we learn from this. We have a week off to get our act together and get ready for home and home with Union

Good 40 minute game for RPI. Last time I checked, the games are 60-65 minutes. I don't want to hear another word of praise for the rest of the year about conditioning, because at this point, it's all BS.

Never like having.a week off when it's not exams time, but this may a blessing in disguise to prepare not only for the start of ECAC play, but extra prep time for Union can't hurt.

I'll listen to the praise if they start showing it on the ice. We had no chance on the OT goal though, it was tipped right off the faceoff. It was past Merriam before we'd even turned around.

Might as well write off the rest of the season.

There's physical conditioning, which they may or may not have, and then's there's mental conditioning, which they definitely lack right now. This could be a result have have an overly young team and only one captain, leadership is something I worry about.

Well, as much as giving up the two goal lead each of the past two night stings, I for one am encouraged and am looking forward to a great ECAC season. I mean c'mon guys - RPI wouldn't have even been in these games last year! PP was good, they didn't buckle under on the early 5 minute major, and they came back and scored the equalizer with the keeper pulled! When was the last time THAT happened? It's the 4th game of the year - of COURSE they have things to work on! The great news is it looks like they have the tools to work on it with this year!

Slightly surprised not to see Kasdorf this weekend, don't expect to see him for awhile now barring injury. Seeing who the #1 is going to be an interesting storyline going forward.

We did beat this team last year.

Re: RPI@MSU-M Saturday 10/20/12

Because obviously it's just as easy to beat them in their home barn on a 200'x100' sheet of ice as it was to beat them at the fieldhouse with one of their top scorers ejected from the game 5 minutes into the second period  And let's not forget that we lost to them the night before.

Note to self: refs still lose games, seeing as how both games in question saw an ejection...

Some games you are just overmatched. That's going to happen. When you're uber-powerful in the first two and then take the third off, there's no excuse for that.

Care to point out where I said that the refs were the ones who were the deciding factor in either game?

Your statement of "We did beat this team last year" is as logical as saying that since Ferris State shut us out twice last year, they shouldn't have lost to us when they came to town last weekend.

Re: RPI@MSU-M Saturday 10/20/12

Early Thread Start gets the WIN...solid start to the year with a good performance tonight setting us up for momentum heading into the Union weekend.

How about when you said that one of the factors of why we beat MSU-M last year was because one of their players was given a major+GM? With regards to your Ferris comment, given what I saw in the predictions thread, I'd say that's pretty much the case. Teams do change from year to year; I'm quite aware of that. I'm sure I'll feel a little better about what transpired if MSU-M brings out their can of whuppass in league play, similar to what Ferris did last year.

Now that the games are over, the only thing I wish is that this team takes the morals from this past weekend and applies it to league play.
