If this team doesn`t start scoring 3 or more soon this is going to be another long year IMO.

If Perry doesn’t get that 4.38 GA down it won’t matter. I do (hope) think this will be a breakout wknd. scoring though.

Well he doesn't play the game alone ...and he held the No 1 team to a one goal lead for most of the night last Saturday. He was hung out to dry on all but one of UNDs goals and saved several that he shouldn't have. This, despite his team only generating what 17 shots? Whatever we think of the 0-3 start,?the issue hasn't been goaltending. I know the staff thinks very highly of the kid. Hence the ice time.

14 shots. No, Perry’s not solely to blame but the point still is, you can score 3 goals a game but if you’re giving up over 4 it doesn’t matter. That’s all I was saying. I still want to see Hack at least once this weekend though.

He still has a point that it isn't entirely goaltending's fault. On at least two of the Maine goals in the Saturday game, we turned over the puck behind our net. Even Patrick Roy can't save those. Obviously I have no idea how many had that happen in the Sioux game, but it still brings a point that you can't depend on goaltending alone.

Three games in, offense is averaging 1.67 goals/game and 1/19 (5.3 pct) on the PP. -30 in shots margin. This weekend is a good opportunity to reverse this trend.

Good news: 17/17 on the PK with 2 shorties.

That's not to say we haven't had good looks on the power play, probably around at least 40-50% of the time. I'll take that and a goalie save over pass-pass-turnover any day; a "hot goalie" is going to happen and there isn't much you can do about it. I have to assume, based on what we've seen since Appert came in, that there's some sort of an internal x-pass rule (similar to the movie "Hoosiers" where x = 4, yes I know it's a basketball movie but the fundamental is similar), and I certainly hope we're not passing for the sake of passing, because when I see pass-pass-turnover, that's what I believe is happening. The whole point is to work for the good shot. If there's a good non-forced shot right away, why not take it, especially when the opposition is expecting the pass and the high man on the PK is leaning more towards clogging up those lanes when the puck gets to the side?

I look to 1-19 on the pp way before I'd look at the goaltending. If you are possessing pucks and scoring goals you also are not allowing them. That and being on the kill too much has sapped us in 3rd periods. All I'm saying is PPG is a team stat not simply a goalie stat.

That pp stat is totally misleading. How many times in the last two weekends have we taken a penalty within 20 seconds of starting our own power play. I can remember 3, and I believe that there were more. We are taking ourselves out of the power play situation. We need to play smarter.

I don’t know what was worse, RPIs passing or the refs. If this is what we can expect from now on from the Refs (http://www.uscho.com/2016/10/20/new...t-direction-refs-enforcing-tight-gap-defense/ ) I’M OUT. BTW, there was a recruit in the house. He was wearing a USA Hockey jacket (maybe 15-17yrs. old). I asked Wiff for a name & he didn’t remember it (sounds like an SA edict). I was going to find out but I was so disgusted by their play I never inquired further.

No doubt it is an SA edict. To be this seems paranoid.

Maybe it's just me, but the refs didn't seem bad this time around. Tight games are going to happen, and the penalties/non-calls seemed legitimate. Say what you want about the third period, there was definitely a penalty there. I thought it more of a trip than a slash, but they both result in the same thing at the end of the day. Let's get the stupid penalties out of the system now so we're ready for league play.

The passing was definitely atrocious. We were all over the place on the PP, from passing for the sake of passing and trying to make too many moves, to a point where it felt like we were getting frustrated and trying to force shots. Sadly only one will likely be addressed, but there is a good middle ground to be found. Let's find it tonight.
