Re: RPI Hockey 2015 - 2016:: Six Flags Over the HFH

Anyone from here going to the Bentley game on the 20th? If so, did you buy tickets yet and where did you buy them from? The Bentley website shows nothing as far as I can see on how to get tickets. I know its a small rink and I don't wanna take the chance of showing up that night and getting left out. Thanks in advance for any help.

Looking at the USCHO poll, two things popped up: one, BC is back up to #2 with an 8-1 record (we all know who beat them!) and our.travel partner did not receive any votes this week. :)

I have no idea, but there enough Bentley fans on USCHO that someone should help http://board.uscho.com/showthread.p...ckey-2015-2016-The-Quest-for-60-Minute-Hockey.

Re: RPI Hockey 2015 - 2016:: Six Flags Over the HFH

A win on and a tie against two teams ranked higher than us on the dreaded north country trip and we pick a grand total of 4 points? Let's look at it another way, we doubled our point total!!! Let's convince the voters with a great weekend coming up!

You're not going to get any love from the west if you can't beat two teams that usually find themselves towards the bottom of the WCHA standings. Plus, the B1G is not very strong, and we didn't beat a team there. Also, the voters have seen this song and dance from us before, just waiting for the inevitable meltdown. If we have a strong showing in the Shillelagh and at Miami, we might be able to change their minds.

In order to get a vote, someone has to think we are a top 20 team. We're not there yet. Sure, we've won some league games, and given our recent track record, that's a good start. Let's start our focus at the foundation, and build up from there.

You know if the Mrs. gave me a kitchen pass I would ride shotgun on this roadie.

I'm planning on going but have the same questions. It's funny but I used to work only a few blocks from that rink and I never even knew it was there. I'm guessing that is won't be tough to get tickets but do plan on lining them up ahead of time. If I learn anything I'll share.

Re: RPI Hockey 2015 - 2016:: Six Flags Over the HFH

I was correct with the score threads. ;)

http://alongtheboards.com/2015/11/ecac-weekly-wrap-rpi-engineers-defying-expectations/

Perhaps it was luck of the draw for the Engineers that the first two ECAC games of the season came in a home-and-home series against their rival, Union. Perhaps they just needed time to gain confidence and chemistry on the ice. Or maybe they just really do not like the Dutchmen.

Whatever it was that caused it, the end result was clear: a 5-1 victory for the Engineers, which included four goals in a 7:34 stretch to end the first period. Mark Dufour spoiled Jason Kasdorf’s shutout bid with a power play goal at the 17:14 mark of the third period, but RPI cruised to their second win of the year.

The teams shifted scenes to Messa Rink in Schenectady, and RPI set out to earn its first road win of the season. It was a closer game, finishing with a score of 3-2 in favor of RPI, but Mark Miller’s power-play goal midway through the third period stood as the game winner. Miller would score another important goal for RPI, but that comes later.

All true. Sorry, although I'm thrilled that the team has reached the .500 plateau, I can't get a warm fuzzy feeling when we were outshot 80-50 on the North trip. Granted the penalty bias has something to do with that but you can't hope to get consistent results when the majority of the play is in your end and you have to depend upon your goalie to stand on his head. Here's hoping the glimmers of improvement lately are indications of better results and not just another blip on the radar.

There's nothing wrong with being outshot. Some teams make their success parking the bus and using counter-attack skills to get themselves through games. If you're going to recruit a hot-shot goalie, that sort of strategy is expected. That being said, I did also see a number of instances in the past few weeks where we did control play and work the puck for a good opportunity. That also shows progress. Next thing to work on is taking advantage of those opportunities. Even if the goalie saves it, that's going to happen, otherwise hockey scores would look more like a hand-egg game.

I know we all hope for consistency. Let the results over the next few weeks speak for themselves.

The most significant part of Ed’s story is the end, assuming Ed heard/wrote right ;) ...... Not really. Appert did say the injury isn’t long-term, though Kasdorf isn’t expected to be ready for Yale on Friday night.

“We’ll know more in a couple days,” Appert said.

Of course "long-term" can also mean different things to different people.

I'm making it an all weekend visit. Got a ticket to the Providence v. Northeastern game the next night. But I am always down for a roadie whenever you get a kitchen pass.

Especially when you get to be our age. Long term for me, i guess, is hoping I am here when the green bananas ripen and turn yellow and I certainly would not think of starting to read War and Peace.;)

The folks over on the Bentley thread said you just walk up day of and get tickets...so I guess you take the chance of getting shut out, but I doubt it will happen.
