I wanted to throw out a question to the older RPI posters out there.
There was a year in which we played a couple of exhibition games against Sir Wilfred Laurier and Brock University that were played at HFH in which I attended.
I'm trying to find out what year those two games were played
RPI defeated SWL 13-2 and Brock 15-0. The Brock game was memorable because we had 35 shots on goal IN THE SECOND PERIOD. The Brock goalie made 32 saves and had to be helped off the ice at the end of the period. Thanks for any help...

I'm obviously of no help for your actual question, but holy hell that's a lot of shots. Reminds me of the Canada-Latvia game at Sochi where goalie Kristers Gudlevskis held on for dear life as Canada peppered him, and was doubled over in exhaustion during the stoppage before he finally allowed a second goal.

Would love to help but I go back in person only to 1963 and i do not remember either of those schools or clubs ever playing in Troy. That kind of scoring sure sounds like a Harkness team but i just cannot place either of the names. I know we played Sir George Williams but I am pretty sure we never scored 13 or 15 against them. Anyone else please chime in if you can remember this. There are several games that just never appear on any list of RPI hockey history (such as an exhibition against a Russian team in the 1980's) but these two have me drawing total blanks.

Please see Dec.14 1965 at BU where Dick Greenlaw had such an evening. I know what he was credited with saving but it seemed to me that they under counted by a lot.

Re: Bracketology. Does it help us in some way that Michigan has pumped in 7 against Penn St so far tonight with about 6 minutes remaining?

Add that the two teams have had almost 100 SOG's so far

The win by Michigan should have helped us since PSU is near us and we played Michigan. The number of goals makes no difference in PWR.

We are up to 16th in PWR. However, we would still require an automatic bid because of AHC and WCHA auto-bids. We are .007 RatingsPI points away from 14th, which would put us in under the assumption that conference auto-bid winners are within the top 14.

It's more recent than that. I've been going since the 73-74 season and I believe they were played in the late 70s or early 80s. They were the first two games of the season and were played in late October or early November.

Can't place the names or scores at all. We had been to all but 4 home games from 1975 through 2001 and most road games. I was at many home games from the early 70's but not all. Just not ringing any sort of bell at all. Perhaps when we drive up to our home up north we can find a program that might help as we have them all there and every yearbook published. But if Ralph, Waite, and I are stumped the only one who could help would be Kurt. Good Luck!!

Ralph, I couldn't take the icy roads up on Long Island any longer. I just purchased a KICKR Snap trainer and am now riding indoors with/against people all over the world.

That was 83-84, or the year before. It was definitely in the Servinis/Oates era.

I remember seeing a game between RPI and Brock during a visit to the Capital District years after I had graduated, though I don't remember Sir Wilfred Laurier.

I remember that in the days before the game, RPI's coach - and my somewhat fuzzy recollection is that the coach was Mike Addesa - tried to do some advance promotion, saying nice things about Brock's team and how he expected a good, competitive game. Something about the tone of the coach's remarks led me to wonder if he really had as much respect for them as he said he did, or if he was just trying to think of something he could say other than "These guys stink out loud."

Well, as I said, I went to the game. I can't say I specifically remember the score or the number of shots on goal in the second period, but I do remember that Brock stunk out loud.

If Addesa was, indeed, the coach at the time, that would put the game in the general time period that ServinisScores mentioned.

Thanks. It was probably in 1982-83, because the HFH was renovated after that season. The first home game at the newly renovated arena was against Mount Allison, so they wouldn't have played 3 Canadian teams that year.
