RPI Hockey 2015 - 2016 (Part II): We want more banners, not more flags

Re: RPI Hockey 2015 - 2016 (Part II): We want more banners, not more flags

Or Section 6, which is where I sit.
How high up did you sit in Section 6 Doc?

If memory serves me (and it is not as sharp as it used to be) we were at roughly the same level in 6 as we were in 5. Usually row K seats 9-12. But that was in the latte years as in the early years we had to take what we could get and wait for people with better seats to either give them up or die (whichever came first). We always had four seats. We had season tickets for 4 from about 1975 through 2001 (almost exclusively section 6). We had 2 seats from 1966 through 1974 but those were in section 5 the entire time.

After 10 years finally feels good to leave the hfh after a playoff series win

Actually, there was no Section 5 from '66 to '74. Back then, sections were marked by letter. Section 6 was Section A and there were no seats to the left. When they renovated HFH in 1984, they added Sections 2-5 and 18-21 on the other side. But I sat only 4 rows behind you the whole time and never even met you.. :(

FDude: We had season tickets in a couple sections but spent a lot of time with seats in section 6. That side can be rather quiet but when you can get section 6 and section 9 excited together, well, you know that can be devine.

ROFL Well played.

The other side used to be loud, but has become a bit of a funeral since the time I started. I still remember the "Go Red! Go White!" chant alternating between the sides of HFH, not just random people on the students' side.

As the years went by we had a rather simple routine. We ate dinner most Fridays at Verdile's (the best veal parm around) then stopped at Bella Napoli and bought enough dessert for the entire row at HFH. After the games were spent at the Holiday Inn bar (the depot or whatever else they called it), Casey's East, The Castaways or wherever else everyone wanted to go. Saturdays we spent at wherever we did not go on Friday. Xmas Tournaments were the absolute best as we used to come up a day early and spend 3 days in the area. For NY away games we used our home in the Adirondacks as home base and drove to Canton and Potsdam and some times to Ithaca. if you sat 4 rows behind us, i am sure we might recognize you. Everyone in that section was just great and friendly.

Re: RPI Hockey 2015 - 2016 (Part II): We want more banners, not more flags

Wasn't there a 13 year old who posted on here a few years ago? He'd be what, 15 now?

Last weekend i got called into the ER of a local hospital for an auto accident case in which two kids got cut up a bit. The young girl was 15. I must tell you, in my 46+ years in medicine i have not ever seen a 15 year old girl look like this or dressed like she was. This kid could easily have gotten served in most bars. I guess my age is really showing but these kids are physically maturing far younger than ever before. Mentally, totally another story.

Hooray for still being a student. $10 tickets instead of $20.

Re: RPI Hockey 2015 - 2016 (Part II): We want more banners, not more flags

There should be a very good RPI contingent at the games this weekend. Between those of us traveling and the RPI alumni base there, we'll have a loud crowd there. From what I see, the Pep Band is also making the trip. Let's do this.

To top it off, I'm told this weekend starts spring break for Harvard. Which means less guys named Brent in ascots at the game.
