RPI Hockey 2014-2015 Part II: Dedicated to Rich Curadi

Re: RPI Hockey 2014-2015 Part II: Dedicated to Rich Curadi

*bangs head against wall*

I take it that you think that it is an improvement to have the band in the stands. :)

Please note that my comment did not say that it was better for the band to be on the stage, only that it added a uniqueness factor. (I did get a kick on the rare occasions before the screening when a puck would land in a tuba. :) )

Actually, I spoke with Norris Pearson during the welcome to the Engineers party prior to the season opener and he said that there are discussions to raise the stage above the glass (but protected by the netting) during the off season. They were working this past season with the renovation of the press box. Would be interesting to see if it happens, but the FlagDude in me says probably not.

It's easier for me to see from the stands, but musically, the band was better on the stage. I bang my head against the wall because I've long since grown tired about the griping and complaining about the stage.

That's been in discussion since before I was conductor in 11-12 (i.e., since we ditched the stage in the first place). Back then it was an issue of money. If that's no longer the case, maybe it'll actually happen this year.

I always get those WeRGold fundraiser emails...if they put a "Raise money to raise the stage" one out there, I'd gladly donate to it. I'm sure I wouldn't be alone. (sorry lugnut for the head)

Re: RPI Hockey 2014-2015 Part II: Dedicated to Rich Curadi

I guess that it is all Gerry Beauclair's fault.

Sorry for being late to this, but I have to take the opportunity to reminisce a bit. Gerry was on the team when I was a freshman. I had heard from some upperclassmen that he had a reputation for penalties. Some said it was deserved, others said not so much. During an early season game, the play was in his corner, and he crunched someone into the boards. They both fall down, Gerry gets up while the play is going the other way. He looks around to see where the refs were, saw that they weren't paying him any attention. So he took the opportunity to do his best Bruno Sammartino impression. Complete with the "Atomic Elbow". I just smiled and shook my head. This pretty sums up his style. A great, frustrating player. Thanks for bringing back a fun memory.

I believe it was Johnny Valentine who featured the "Atomic Skull Crusher"

Uniform's been off for quite a while, and given the cronies SAJ brings in, I'd guess since the end of the Clinton administration. Every day's a new day.

So because the Col. hasn't been active duty for a while, he doesn't deserve your respect? Not cool, not cool at all.

Surrender your citizenship and GTFO of this country. Don't come back.

Btw- If anyone needs some positive rep just tell FDud to shut his pie hole and you'll get it in a hurry.

One can only hope that someday he will come to understand that the phrase "you don't sh^t where you eat" is not merely a quaint folk saying but also very sound advice on how to live a decent life.

Sissy tough. Come say something like this to a vet's face. See what happens.

I am not going to discriminate anyone for any reason. You want to be addressed by a specific title? Repsected. Are you proud of your past? Respected. Every person in this world is equal; no one person is better than another.

Re: RPI Hockey 2014-2015 Part II: Dedicated to Rich Curadi

How about a little respect for a man who proudly wore this country's uniform and provided the very freedom we enjoy

What freedoms? The Constitution has been practically ripped to shreds, and every single grievance from the Declaration of Independence has happened within the last thirty years.

Re: RPI Hockey 2014-2015 Part II: Dedicated to Rich Curadi

For some reason, I am reminded of the scene in a situation "comedy" in which the wife says, "does this dress make me look fat?"

There are two extreme ways to convey "the truth," one of which is supportive, and the other which is gratuitously mean and degrading.

The kind of reply I favor would be "Honey, I love the way the color of that dress accents your eyes, you have such beautiful eyes." That would be a true statement, and the "fact" that technically it doesn't "answer the question" is immaterial: the actual question was a request for reassurance, not an invitation to an insult!

Of course, in today's world, the dialog is more likely to proceed as follows:
"Does this dress make me look fat?"
-- it's not the dress

Only an immature, self-absorbed, mean and hurtful person would answer in this way. he probably would then delude himself by saying he was merely being "truthful" without having the basic social sense to realize that he is lying to himself. Deliberately trying to hurt a person with degrading words is never "truthful" it is gratuitous cruelty. I can only think of one reason why a person would engage in deliberate cruelty under the guise of being "truthful."

Wow! I know he is worthy of respect but I had no idea that he actually fought in the Revolutionary war! I wonder how he liked serving under Washington. I'll bet it was a lot better than his gig working under Jackson.
