If he leaves, that's his prerogative. If he stays, he'll have some stiff competition for ice time vs. Alec Dillon. If Kasdorf can scoop up the #1 job as a frosh, Dillon can do it just as easily.

I am somewhat concerned that Dillon has been playing for teams which help him on defense. Kasdorf may have benefited from his year in the USHL with a team which left him out to dry a lot.

Does your listing track how many shots he faces in games? That would give us enough indication. I know you track SV% and GAA, but that doesn't tell the whole story. Of course, nothing's better for seeing how a recruit is doing than actually watching him/her play.

Dillon has faced 711 shots (saved 652) in 1625:05, so that is about 26.25 shots per 60 minutes.

Doesn't sound like an abhorrently high number of shots; if I had to venture a guess, that'd be a typical average for a team in a college hockey game. If the team greatly helped on D, I would expect a lower number of shots.

Jason Kasdorf's 2012-2013 season, impressive as it was, did not prompt the Jets to offer him a pro contract at that time - at least, not a contract sufficiently attractive to get him to decide to leave school.

Granted that the Sabres and the Jets are two different organizations, I still have to wonder what has happened during the last two seasons that would make the Sabres more willing to offer Kasdorf a big-money pro contract now than the Jets were two years ago.

The Sabres are more interested in the arrival of G Linus Ullmark from Sweden than the one from Troy. Jason has to re-establish his game/confidence here before any organization will pay him in the hopes he can do it on the next level. BTW, Jason beating out Merriam was a lot easier than Dillon beating out Kasdorf would be.

I am sure that Dillon expects to be a backup for a year if Kasdorf remains, but if Kasdorf has games like recent ones, he could play the part of Wally Pipp.

IF Kasdorf remains? Don't be surprised if not only does he stay next season but uses his redshirt year to return for 2016-17. Unless he puts up numbers like his freshman year next season, I can see it happening.

There is also the fact that he is married which could have an effect, but it isn't clear to me in which direction.

Thanks Turk-very interesting to compare numbers and see who gets his shots on net and who does not. You can't do very much good shooting wide too often or having your shots blocked. I would imagine you can only compare forwards to forwards and defensemen to defensemen since the D men shoot from further out more often. As expected, other than for JL, face off numbers are just poor.

RPI's face off win percetange is abhorrent. ECAC average is 50.15%, we fall at 43.4%, that's 1.7 standard deviations worse. Only Princeton comes in lower at 42%. Of players qualified players, only Laliberte is winning more than half of his faceoffs. And he graduates this year.

In the ECAC, faceoff win % is positively correlated with overall winning percentage with a linear best fit R^2 of .5019.

I can't remember the last time I didn't go to Hamilton for a men's game. Missed the women's game this year.

Do you guys have a game with UNH next year? I know Union has a single home game against them so I would imagine they would be Michigan's travel partner if they are scheduled to play RPI as well.

Not sure if they're going to give us an even return trip, given we've already played them for three years, but it's possible.

Perhaps it's time I should get that spreadsheet going.
