I hate to say this but in my opinion lack of discipline has been an earmark of RPI hockey for years.

For contrast, what teams would you cite as having discipline?
Army. And if you want to base it on penalties taken, Cornell.![]()
Well I wouldn't go so far as to say Army is disciplined, I've been watching them for years, they mix it up like any other big D1 team if that is the direction the game is going. I've seen a number of game misconducts on them this year and they recently had a game misconduct for slew footing. There are probably other teams out there Flaggy that would be a better choice. Anyway, they're playing Princeton now, (a Wednesday night OOC for them with a 5:30pm start), so we'll see how they do against Princeton (they lost earlier this year to Brown). They have some pretty decent freshman this year so they will improve over the course of the next few seasons. BTW I saw that Jim Brown post too on the other web site, unbelievable.

Jen and i are at this game right now with Princeton leading 1-0. 7 penalties in the first period and early second, with 3 on Army. Lots of shots and one of the most wide open games you can imagine. Will post later if I have time. Attendance is kind of marginal(meaning almost no one is here)
Puckman needs your help....... Puckman is the fun, light-hearted face of our hockey teams, and helps get fans of all ages excited and involved. By giving a gift to purchase a new suit, you would help continue the tradition of Puckman and boost school spirit for another generation to come..... http://alumni.rpi.edu/s/1225/WeRGold/index.aspx?sid=1225&gid=1&pgid=4718
I suspect that Harkness never thought about it. Although it might have cost money to move the penalty box, he could have used the south side (got it right this time) for RPI's bench. I doubt having the bench nearer the locker room is an advantage. However, perhaps having it on the student side is an advantage.
The penalty box was still on the south side when I left RPI after the 73-74 season which was in Salfi's tenure. I suspect that it was moved the same time that most of the poles were removed.
Had a feeling you two would be there. I see its 2-0 Princeton. Enjoy the game.

I would be more likely to contribute if they brought back the Swarm.I really preferred the Bee. Fond memories of some of the mascots going back years. Somewhere here I have a great picture of the Lake Superior (Bird/Duck/Whatever he was) picking up and carrying off a very young Jenny during the November 1985 Christmas Tournament game that we won).

Shoot, Doc, didn't Seamore the Sea Duck introduce himself to Jenny at the time?![]()
I really enjoyed Swarm myself. I have several great memories of him, but the one that I'll never forget was back in '85 in Detroit before the championship game when he came out on the ice before the game waving a Michigan State flag in front of several thousand Spartan fans which helped put them on our side.
And i thought we were the only ones posting here that were there for that. The building erupted.
