What the heck?! We're halfway through December and are still on the first thread of the season?! What gives?!

Re: RPI Hockey 2014-2015: Dedicated to Rich Curadi

You know what gives! You have personally driven away half the posters who refuse to use ignore! I'm sure your proud.

You must spread some Reputation around before giving it to johnk again.

First off, it's "you're". Secondly, why am I not surprised that you would pin this entirely on me, and then for some reason believe it was a mission? Perhaps the team's performance is also indicative, as the majority of posts seem to come when the team does well.

Without a Peer @without_a_peer

Men: All we want for Christmas is Melanson, Nanne, and Kasdorf back in the lineup and fast. And more Wood.

Given who typically leads complaints about me, this explains a lot.:p:D

Dare I ask for suggestions for a title for Part II?

RPI Hockey 2014-15 Part II: Where Have All the Posters Gone?

with apologies to PP&M and the Kingston Trio.

If you scared away Hoky you did a service.

I don't see how we could do any better than the original title, reprised:

"RPI Hockey 2014-15 v II: Re-Dedicated to Rich Curadi" or something along those lines.

Though given how infrequently threads are closed these days, we may not need it until 2015....

Although you are correct that threads are now only closed at rare intervals, I vote to start a new one after 1000 replies anyway. Your title (without the hyphen) crossed my mind also. It is certainly a very good choice.

Ding! Ding! Ding! Anyone who doesn't think that the number of contributions to the tread is not in direct correlation to the team's performance should have their logic circuits repaired.

Actually, not true. There are people who would love to discuss the team's performance. But unfortunately, certain posters ruin it when they care more about picking the opposite team's goalie so they win fantasy games instead of winning actual real games. It's stuff like that which makes having discussions pointless.

DrD can discuss how two medicines, each in isolation, can have minor effects, while when taken together can have major effects: "adverse drug interactions." Either of these two causes cited above, in isolation, would reduce posting, the confluence of both causes at the same time has had an analogous interactive effect to reduce posting far more in combination than if you were take either effect in isolation and then add it to the other.

The combination of the injury to Nanne (which disrupted our top scoring line) and the injury to Kasdorf (which disrupted the morale of the defense given his rebound control) has had a similar adverse interaction effect on the team's play. I like that they keep showing heart and resolve, that's a positive sign that encourages me quite a bit. But you also need top talent playing at its best, and that is problematic right now.

PS I have been mulling over whether I want to always choose our opponents in the ECAC pick 'em thread (if it ever resumes) but merely as a superstitious ploy, sort of hoping for a "reverse jinx" effect: I'd love to be wrong every time!

Anyone who claims to be a "fan" of a program and then actively roots against them out of spite, well, what can I say that hasn't already been said better by others?

Fish: With medications it is often call potentiation. No question many times the combination of two drugs is far more potent than each is individually. In the old days it was used as a reason for multiple antibiotics in resistant infections(TB was notoriously treated with 2 or even 3 antituberculous drugs). I could not agree with you more. The loss of Kasdorf for any period of time is huge. The loss of Nanne has proven to be just about as important. Add to that the loss of Melanson whose speed and ability to set others up with it has just a tremendous effect on the offense. Add those 3 together and you get something far larger than the individual components. This season may just be a little too far gone for all of these cogs to fit back into the scheme and play well together(it will take a few games i suspect even after all are back), but if an when we do get totally healthy, this team can present some awful problems for just about anyone.

Re: RPI Hockey 2014-2015: Dedicated to Rich Curadi

Ralph: Just my 2¢, but I vote to keep this tribute thread open for RC until forced to close. I could not think of a more appropriate thread for the entire season. I would think honoring this family for this season should be just extremely important. If anyone feels they have a better title to represent this year, then so be it.
