Re: RPI Hockey 2014-2015: Dedicated to Rich Curadi

It looks like the RPI recruit thread isn't working. If it isn't fixed soon, it will make the decision about starting a new thread easy. :) I reported the problem.

In case anyone wants to know, yesterday Jacob Hayhurst scored a PPG; Charles Manley did not dress; and Alex Rodriguez wasn't on the scoresheet except for 3 SOGs.

It seems to be working now.

We got by far the better Tinordi. I know jarred is up with Montreal, but how many NCAA games did he ever get to play for Notre Dame?

I'll have none of this-we only can post recruit information on the recruit thread-no exceptions. So I do not want to see recruit postings on this thread. Signed, the thread police.;)

Re: RPI Hockey 2014-2015: Dedicated to Rich Curadi

The dream is that everyone is back with a few weeks left in the season, start to mesh, get hot going into the ECAC playoffs, then win ten in a row. :)
The team has been decimated for some time. Many have not played together in months. January will be for some like starting the season over. I just want to see them get healthy, start winning ECAC games to get a decent post season position and develop the chemistry that i was starting to see. A healthy MNM makes a world of difference as does getting big Luke back on defense smearing some poor souls all over the place. It goes without saying, but I will say it anyway, a fully healthy Kasdorf makes or breaks how this all turns out.

Re: RPI Hockey 2014-2015: Dedicated to Rich Curadi

Does anyone else think that it is more possible than most people thought back in october that Kasdorf will come back ext year? Personally I think he would be foolish to leave. I have a feeling that in the long run all the recent guys that left early would have been better off with an RPI degree. I just don`t understand the urge to leave early unless the offer is unreal. With his injury streak he may not even get an offer. Imagine how solid we could be in goal next year if he stays.

I don't even think that was a consideration, especially with Winnipeg giving an offer to Hellebuyck.

I recall some off season talk of JK coming back this year and if he had a year similar year to his freshmen year he would probably go pro. With each new name added to the list of underclassmen who leave early and never make it as a regular in the NHL I hate early departures more and more.

If I were the Winnipeg general manager, with Hellebuyck playing well at St. John's and with Kasdorf missing yet another significant stretch of playing time with injury, I don't think I'd be willing to offer Kasdorf the kind of money that would induce him to go pro before next season unless he really comes on like gangbusters after New Year's - as he did two years ago.

I guess the optimistic way of looking at it is that either RPI fans will get to enjoy outstanding goaltender play from Kasdorf this coming January and February, or he'll be back in Troy again next year.

Re: RPI Hockey 2014-2015: Dedicated to Rich Curadi

If I were GM of a pro club, and saw that my draft pick wanted to go to RPI, I'd do anything I could to get him into the pro system immediately. I'm not going to risk injury to my player by a coaching staff that doesn't do much of anything in terms of strength and conditioning, not only evidenced by the amount of injuries, but also the lack of performance in the second and third periods.

Their performance in the second and third periods has nothing to do with conditioning. For the most part, this team has played sixty minutes in just about every game.
Their poor performance in the late periods is do to giving up the first goal in virtually every game they play. And with no scorers on the team, they press more and more as the game goes on. Leading to mental mistakes and poor defensive efforts.
As for the injuries and illness, show me a hockey team that has none of that and I will agree with your assessment on conditioning.
I know you don't like this coaching staff, but you need stop blaming them for things that are just hockey related.

Please don't feed the Troll. Ignore it and it will eventually go away.

I have yet to see a sixty-minute effort from this team.

And you keep talking about "no scorers", yet that's what people like Laliberté were brought in to do. Kid doesn't shoot at all. Lack of personal confidence is something I'd understand if he were frosh or soph, but not as a senior.

And if we're not to blame the coaching staff for something hockey related, then what the heck are they preparing these kids for? Basketball?!

And what is the excuse for the poor performance in the opening period? Many of those first goals were from mental mistakes. Mental mistakes too are a result of fatigue which translates to a 'lack of conditioning'. But its all relative. Even if you think our boys are in great shape, the other teams seem to be in better shape. If you think we are going up against the reincarnation of Ken Dryden every game, then you'd better think again because that is not the case. We are out-conditioned. If as you imply the coaching staff is not to blame for a 6-12-1 record then who is? Possibly our recruiter?
