Re: RPI Hockey 2014-2015: Dedicated to Rich Curadi

Franks would look good in Giants blue next year.

I am quite sure many NFL teams have had a good look. I know that some have timed his kicking motion to see exactly how fast he can get lift on the ball. He will have to be able to get the ball not just 60+ yards down the field, but he will have to elevate it much more rapidly at the NFL level as the rushing linemen coming in all go about 6' 8" tall and have arms extended up another couple feet. He has the leg strength for certain, but if his kicks are of an even slightly lower trajectory than necessary, he will not stand much of a chance. Friends at the Springfield game have told me that in pre game warm up he was hitting them from 55+ yards consistently without the wind at his back and about 5-10 yards longer with the wind. Perhaps the second coming of one of my all time favorites-Lou "the toe" Groza.:)

Nice effort and outcome for the team last night.Seth made some line up changes that really helped with speed on the blue line.Very glad to see schroeder in on the winner. I feel he is one of the consistently hard workers every game.If someone told me prior to the start of league play we would be 3-1 4 games in I would have said no freaking way.On to next weekend with increased expectations.

I'd have to assume they gave the other kid a chance.

I had wrpi on in the car during the football game. When Franks did not come out for the PAT on the first RPI touchdown, the broadcast crew was wondering if AF was hurt. After a moment, they recalled that he had made a saving tackle on the RPI kickoff following his field goal. Has anyone heard anything new?

(Obscure WWII reference of the week: 'AF is Midway.')

Saw the tackle on the Springfield broadcast. He did not seem to get badly hurt at all. It was certainly not obvious. BTW I must say their broadcast was pretty fair(although in no way up to RPITV standards). But their sideline interviews especially the one interview with the mascot(the Pride?) was memorable-or was it just the young lady doing the interview???;) Certainly in the mold of Adlon Adams at Yale. But I got sidetracked-we have one or at most 2 more football games(if we qualify for some ECAC bowl). Certainly will need AF back for any chance of success in those even with Union having one of their worst football seasons in memory. I am sure they will be at their best for next weekend.

Ok, so I’m currently watching the Canucks vs Ducks from Anaheim & there’s an older fella sitting in one of the corners wearing an RPI sweatshirt....anyone from here? Upper righthand corner as you’re looking at the screen about 6-8 rows above the U-C Irvine ad.

Sometimes it's nice to appreciate small moments for what they are. Looking at the ECAC standings this morning, for example.

"Random thoughts on the weekend:for me there are no other kind!" Friday's loss to Harvard was tough to take, not because RPI lost, but because they did not compete. Harvard is good: they have double digit NHL draft picks AND according to their pregame notes, returned 94.5% of their offense. RPI returns about 39% of last year's goal scoring.Harvard's only question is goaltending. Saturday night was a different story. RPI's energy was good and fairly consistent throughout, they went shot-for-shot with Dartmouth, and their body language said that they were excited to be there...COMPETING. Some mainstays got sat down and some experienced new blood was infused into the lineup. Whether this was SA finally utilizing the stick instead of the carrot is anyone's guess, but I think itmay have had the desired effect in that it got players' attention. It certainly seemed to raise the energy level DRAMATICALLY compared to Friday and for this RPI team to win, they need to create chaos on offense, minimize chaos on defense, get a Kasdorfian effort in goal and play like their hair is on fire for 60 minutes. Is that a lot to ask, for $12.00 and 4 hours of my life?

This is what both irritates and causes me to throw my hands up. I understand that over the course of a full season individual players will have off nights, for whatever reasons. But year after year there are far too many games where it seems far too many players take games off. To have already had 3 games where it’s obvious to everyone watching that, “it’s going to be one of those games”, .....well, enough’s been said. As Senna likes to say, "get out of the way and let them play".

I can't get this to play, but I have a couple of transcripts of his remarks. No word on fine or suspension yet. The man formally known as Fat Mike (he lost a lot of weight a few years ago)will likely get slapped by Mr. Hagwell.

pretty good weekend, although the inconsistency is worse than ever. 3rd period comeback was a great sign.

But it seems that most of the rest of the league has become as inconsistent as we have historically been. As such, being 3-1 is quite good.
